Interesting HYPOTHETICAL gun question

Hi,

My father in law resides in AZ and as we all know gun laws are pretty loose. Let us say for example (hypothetically speaking) I was to visit my father in law and he purchased 3 ar15 .223 lowers. As far as I know in AZ there is a quick BG check, no waiting period and no registering of weapons, and out you walk with pretty much anything like I mentioned. Let us say he was to give me these 3 lowers and I over time built LEGAL guns with them to suit CA gun laws.

Without this weapon being registered at all, what issues could arise. I do not go the ranges with my guns, I do legal desert DESOLATE shooting. Basically what I am trying to say is I do not want the government in my business. All of my other weapons are registered.

I have an idea what is coming in regards to answers but just curious.

It's against federal law for him to give you the lowers without transferring them to you through a California licensed dealer.

Why don't you just buy some lowers from your local gun shop before 2014 to get unregistered lowers?

Look into intra-familial transfers. The calguns wiki is a great resource for that. $18 bucks and you transfer them and go on your way.

Intra-familial transfers between residents of two different States have to go through an FFL. It's right there in the wiki.

I do not understand, if you can explain that would be great. I was under the impression that lowers were the only part of the AR that required registering....maybe we are talking about the same thing?

Actually he has two places of residence that he floats in between. AZ and CA.

Every long gun I have purchased has serial numbers that tie it to me....isn't that registering with the state, or am I way off here?

Crap....then I stand corrected, it must only apply to handguns. Thank you for clearing this up.

So it looks like I can "hypothetically" buy as many AK's, AR's and stripped AR lowers as I wish, hypothetically build them at my leisure and noone will ever know I have 'em....that is basically what you guys are are telling me?

Just don't hypothetically get caught with them in a theoretical California, after allegedly committing a felony in Kalifornistein.

It is not worth the risk unless you do it the technically "legal" way...

You know that we are the only ones that comply with laws, not actual criminals, but Liberals with drug-fried brains don't care about our rights, just getting THEIR way... like spoiled brats.
