How much ammo is enough ?

I am new here and so this is probably an old question. I went to the gun show in Glendale yesterday and brought a few little items...but no ammo.

I have some decent ammo at home...but the question is "How much ammo is enough ammo?" How much should I stock up on for each weapon?

I go shooting twice a month at one indoor one outdoor range and just wondered how much ammo should I stockpile for current use of more importantly future use???

I have both a .223 and a nine...and a .22

It varies with people but for myself a try to keep 1k rounds in each caliber in reserve.

Start off with 2,000 rounds of each caliber and build from there.

This question is relevant to the use of the firearm owner.

The newby might only need a box of 50.

Owners with a range membership might need a few thousand.

The prepper might need enough for the zombie apocalypse.

My advice is to keep your stash on a continual rotation basis.

When I fall below 1000 rounds in any caliber I re-order. But I shoot three times a week and throw at least 600 rounds a week. How many rounds you go through on a range trip on average has bearing.
(yea, I know, reload. no time, rather shoot with what time I do have)

You can never have too much ammo.

A full .50 Cal ammo box in each caliber. That's your reserves.

Start with 1k for each caliber.
After you've gone through 500, order another 1k.

I just started out. I keep 500 rds of each caliber use as a reserve and just buy what Im gonna use for that day.

If you are prepper in a suburban area, you're most likely gonna have to leave your dwelling to a more rural area, so 500 rds is prolly what I can carry and transport.

If I live on a rural property, its how much can you afford at that point.

I say, figure out what you can afford and will be willing to let sit in your ammo cans.
Ammo cost can add up quick but can cost more of you buy it 100rds at a time so I always buy by the case.

At least 1000 rds per longgun & 500 rds per handgun. That is the bare minimum & does not include practice rounds.

I reorder whenever my handgun ammo, for any CF caliber, falls below 1000 rounds....5000 rounds for .22lr...that is for practice ammo.

I usually have 1000 rounds for defensive ammo on hand and get concerned if it falls below 500
