Sounds like you should get a CCTV set up for your house, put up "your on video" signs. Install motion detector lights around your house. Put some laser grips on your pistol or a laser on your shotgun. Be smart and stay safe, avoid confrontation, they know where you live. Put your cars in your garage, don't leave anything visible in them. Always be aware of whats going on around you and talk with your neighbors, form a neighborhood watch group.

Bull-effing-crap! I don't know if you car is parked in the street or in a common parking structure. My cars are parked in my driveway on my property. There's no way anyone can prohibit me from coming out to investigate car alarm with a 12-gauge or a pistol! Obviously I'm not going to shoot someone for breaking into the trunk of my car (unfortunately we're not in Texas), but I'm not going to risk getting killed if the robber has a weapon.Comment

I live in a townhouse so my driveway is like 4 feet long. I have to park in front of the house or on the street, so I can see why he would say I can't come out armed. Just a bummer that you are pretty much forced to be a victim in most cases in this state.Comment

I was going to say that is the only answer but then everyone will start accusing me of Kali bashing.
Either stay and be a cowering victim like that LEO wants you to be, or leave. Those are the only choices allowed in this state.Comment
