    Quick question.

Perhaps someone can school me on how one of these "FTF" face-to-face transactions goes down. I haven't any experience with the marketplace on this website and I'm interested. Help is appreciated. Thanks!

Assuming the transaction happens in California, both parties meet at an FFL, likely a gun shop, exchange cash, fill out paper work, and sign on the dotted lines. The FFL holds the gun for ten days, and the buyer picks it up.

      Short answer:
On long guns 50+ years you can meet a person and pay them and they give you the firearm.
On pistols and firearms that aren't 50+ years or older (newer long guns) you would meet face to face at a an 01 dealer (usually a gun store) and perform a private party transfer in order to transfer the firearm. A $35 fee is associated with a transfer here.

Someone who is more awake can add more but thats the skinny.

C&R handguns (50+) still go through a FFL and a DROS is done, at least in CA but not most other states. It does make it possible to get a gun that is not on the safe list into CA.
