    So it BEGINS!

After reading all the threads on gun prices supposedly increasing after Obama takes office, I decided to call around to some of my local gun stores to see for myself. Before he won the election, I priced a Saiga .308 at $499. I called today and NOW??? That same Saiga is $700.

Supply and demand, just like '08 and '09 when Obummer was first elected. Demand goes up, price goes up.

              This.

You can help your fellow calgunners from possible rape/pillage, especially maybe some who have zero gun experience.

Posting stuff like this without naming names does everyone a disservice.

There is a line between free market logic and price gouging, and sounds like that gun shop crossed it big time.

I wouldn't step foot in that place ever again and let them know exactly why.

Yes please name this store. I have a long memory and there is still FFL's from Obama gouge part 1 I do little to no business with because of that. The ones that were not rapers of their regular long term customers and the clueless noobs that were panic buying I tend to reward them with my continued business if possible.

Don't just complain. Complaint without action is meaningless. Out them.

Oh God. Now we have to hear about gougers again. There is no such thing as gouging in the gun industry. You are not being forced to buy anything. There are no new bans. Everything is buyer induced panic. If you believe all of the hype coming out of the gun industry, you deserve to pay more.

Just relax and keep shopping around like normal. If the normal gun store price is high, don't buy it. You will survive if you don't buy a Saiga .308 so there is no rush to buy it. No one is gouging you for the necessities of life.

Plus I just checked and my wholesaler is out of Saigas, but the cost if they had them would be $555. Kind of makes the whole "I just saw them for $499" moot.

It's what the market will bear.

Should they charge less and make less money to be "fair"?

Should YOU not have access to something because they had to sell it at a lower price, therefore there are none left for YOU?

Agreed. Shop around. The local place here in Rocklin is full swing with the panic. Was in there the day before election and 2 days after.
Stripped lowers went up by about 50$ average, pmc cases of .223 went from 359$ to $450. Complete rifle prices looked to average an increase anywhere from 2-300$ . Instead of griping I just chose to go elsewhere. Happened into one of my old shops and their selection, in stock availability and great prices made them a couple rifle sales and saved me a bunch.
It's just a matter of how you conduct business. Some go for higher profit now with less sales, some go for lower per item profit but get a lot more sales volume thus more profit. It's their business , if you don't agree then shop elsewhere.

I generally agree with your theory with the exception that a lot of this hype is pure speculative FUD. Somebody's gotta be disseminating said FUD..
