Anyone have an opinion on what this might mean for our current set ups?

It will not mean too much. Bullet buttons are "safer" in that removing them at a police property room shows the previous owner's intent to have a legal rifle better than removing a classic P-50.

It tweaks certain noses at DOJ, but that's because they're mad about the politics and the fact that the law doesn't support their anti-gun crusade.

EDIT: Also, what would the non-pistol grip stock look like? I was just checking out pictures of the 556, and I can't imagine what they would do, unless they go with a MM-type grip. If they do, there should be some license fees paid out for that... Same with the "Prince50-type" maglock.
Randy only gave non-specifics about what the featureless 556 might look like. He said it would have a "sporter-style" stock set-up and a muzzle brake. No mention of a MMG or the like. When I asked him about the Prince-50 and whether they were licensing them or buy a ton or what, he said they were developing one similar and building it themselves. The 556 magazine catch is sufficiently different in its layout to be able to get away with this without infringing on anyones patents....according to SIG (Randy).

As for when, Randy said 6-8 more weeks until we get one. I'm hoping we'll be the first, but who knows. I'd love to debut pictures of it here as soon as it gets into the shop. We'll have to see.

Funny you should say that, Gene. That's pretty much the SIG party line from what Randy was saying. I guess SIG knows it's going to piss off the DOJ but SIG doesn't seem to care. They are more concerned about getting competitive in the CA shooting market again. His (and their) response was, "If they get mad, they get mad. We're over it." You gotta love that from a gun manufacturer.

Yea, I may have to jump on this bandwagon.

                  Anyone know an approximate retail?

                    I won't buy 2, but I will pick up a P220 as well. :-)

I will buy the non PG version as long as it doesn't suck. I was counting on the RX4, but now that not happening. I've also been looking into the Volquarten rifle but I'd rather buy a sig.
