Oh no I absolutely agree and said I would not recommend one for a new shooter, just saying with practice/training it's possible.

I was thinking about this on my long drive to work today. I need to appologize to you. You are correct. Blanket statements are rarely 100% correct. In fact, I've comfortable aimed PG only 12Gs and consistantly hit moving targets. But, those have been AOWs with 7 1/2" to 14" barrels. In reality, PG only shotguns are normally very awkward to aim and have very limited real life uses.

Having a buttstock really helps with the aiming.

I believe everyone was on the same page. It's definitely more difficult than a buttstock but not impossible.

I'm far from an accomplished shotgunner. However, I do have over 34 years of experience hunting with and shooting shotguns. PG only shotguns are ment for movies, video games and mall ninjas. They are pointed not aimed. I'll go up against anyone who wants to shoot their PG only shotgun against me on a standard clay game, trap, skeet, sporting clays, etc. and we can see which one can be aimed better. I'm also guessing that those who think they can proficienly aim a PG only shotgun weren't even born when I put my first PG on a shotgun.

I don't doubt you could out shoot myself or most using a buttstock. I should have worded my post better, sorry. I don't think not having a buttstock is better, I'm just saying it's not impossible to still use effectively.

No need to apologize but I appreciate it. I never intended for my post to sound as if a PG only shotgun was better or easier to aim if that's how it came across. I entirely agree with you that a buttstock will improve your shooting regardless of how well trained you are with a PG only shotgun. When I was in the Army the team leaders carried the 500s with just a PG and a 16" barrel. We did training with them in the event that when we were breaching a door, something happened and we couldn't switch back to our M4 as the shotgun is an entry tool, not a clearing/fighting tool. At first we couldn't hit **** haha. It's definitely more difficult and took some time but we were able to confidently fire it through much training.
