You do not need to be a citizen to buy a firearm in the US.

Please, do yourself a favor and DO NOT get a pistol grip only shotgun. They are more of a novelty than anything else. If you truely feel the need to get one, get a Mossberg 500 or a Remington 870 and then by a pistol grip for it. Hell, I might have one that I'd give you just to know that you also have a stock for it and that you'll be able to use it properly when you get over the tacifool feeling a shooting a PG only shotgun. Of course, I'd suggest buying a .22lr rifle before anything else. You can shoot all day for $20 worth of ammo!

He said pistol grip only, and that's because the uses of a pistol grip only shotgun are very limited. You're kinda stuck shooting slugs and buck at an indoor range, and not even a lot of that. I would recommend a 10/22 OP

Jesus guys, It is an opinion, let it go already. I wouldn't recommend one either for a first gun and/or a new shooter. It should be about the basics, of safety, maintenance, and technique. Besides, CSA offered good a solution if the OP wanted a PG only shotgun.

Let it go already? What are you talking about? He posted something claiming no one can do it and I simply disagreed and you are acting like we had some huge argument. Not sure what that was all about as I was just stating my opinion.

OK then lets just say most people cannot unless they do allot of practice with one. Yes they are harder to use for the average person IN MY OPINION and expierence of working with shooters, especially new shooters.

I had a PG on my shotgun but found it very difficult for skeet, so sold it. Best thing Ive ever done.

Maybe I jumped the gun early, but the OP needs good advise for a new shooter. When the OP has a little more experience, he will know what he can or cannot handle. CSA offered a really good solution for the OP. The OP can shoulder the shotgun, and when ready, he can run the PG only. There is no need to give a new shooter advise for a seasoned shooter.

Oh no I absolutely agree and said I would not recommend one for a new shooter, just saying with practice/training it's possible.

I think some of you are confusing pistol grip only shotguns with pistol grip shotguns...



Having a buttstock really helps with the aiming.

I'm far from an accomplished shotgunner. However, I do have over 34 years of experience hunting with and shooting shotguns. PG only shotguns are ment for movies, video games and mall ninjas. They are pointed not aimed. I'll go up against anyone who wants to shoot their PG only shotgun against me on a standard clay game, trap, skeet, sporting clays, etc. and we can see which one can be aimed better. I'm also guessing that those who think they can proficienly aim a PG only shotgun weren't even born when I put my first PG on a shotgun.

Wow! i didn't expect this amount of responses, thank you guys for all the help! it seems like everyone is recommending a .22, and even though i never shot a rifle before i would love to learn. I think that might be the direction that i am heading to.

I definately want to get trained before anything, i truly believe guns need to be respected. Luckly i just found out that one of the guys i work with is a part time police officer and he owns quite a few guns, he said he will help me with the training.

But again i couldn't thank you guys enough, this was very helpful.
