    357 ROSSI MAL-JUNKTION

So, I took home a MODEL R46102 .357 MAGNUM 2" BARREL IN BLUE Rossi yesterday and I already regret the decision. After reading mixed reviews, I knew something was off when my 10 day wait flew by. Ever notice how slow it goes by when you really want that gun you KNOW is good? Anyways, I decided to run over to the range today after work and TEST it out. I loaded it up with Fioccchi 142 grs FMJTCs. This load shoots hot so I was sure it would waken up in problems...... Well, unfortunately after firing 2 shots, the cylinder jammed and I couldnt get it open. Feeling like a 10 yer old, I got one of the range guys to help me out. He bangs it open for me and puts 3 shots of .38 spec in it to see how it does. It fires all 3 rounds no problem. I load it up with 3 more .357 rounds ..bang ..bang..the cylinder jams again...and on the last shot ..BOOM!!it bends the piece of metal that sticks out behind the cylinder on the left side to the rear position. Im in awe because this is supposedly stainless steel...How could it bend back so easily?? All the guy could say at the store was when you buy a $300 gun that can happen...I have another Taurus and it never blew up in my hand. Not even in possession of my gun for 24 hours and already going back to the manufacturer...What thee hell?? To add insult to injury, they don't even offer FREE RETURN SHIPPING labels. The customer has to pay for shipping... MAGNUM Research jamming issues with some of their guns but at least you get free shipping to and from in a timely fashion.......

It is what it is but the range master was right. You get that sometimes with a $300 gun. I had a major issue with my brazillian gun and they will try to blame you for it BTW. I suggest selling it and getting a Ruger or Smith... sorry.
    Buy my EO Tech XPS3-0!!!

Listen: This is a $300 gun, not a Magnum Research Jericho 941.

So what, you pay $15 in shipping. A box of ammo down the drain, boo hoo, deal with it.

Rossi is a division of Taurus, and over the last couple of years their customer service has really improved. Hopefully they will fix this quickly and promptly.

Remember, this is a BUDGET GUN. With a gun made for that price, there will be more lemons than normal. I'm sorry, but that's the way you gotta play when you're buying economy pistols. Once they have it fixed, it should work perfectly fine.

$15 shipping?? What year was that? Try $40 for 2 day FedEX non-reimbursed shipping dear sir and a $30 box of the good stuff...
I understand your point, but budget or no budget a gun shouldnt fall apart the first time you fire it. My DE malfunctioned to and I had to send it back and we all know how much those run. Ive heard how "nice" the customer service is over at Hellnarraus..F-- that..as the customer I should not have to deal with such things. Sure I got it on sell for $299, but after tax, dros, ammo, range fees etc...thats over $400. So are you saying its OK for credible stores to sell crappy product? A friend of mine still has a $200 9mm Hi-Point he bought back in 1993...and it still works fine! Thats whats wrong with this capitalistic society..we are expected to buy BS and like it. We as gun enthusiast should not have to pay $1000 for a piece of metal to RELIABLY go "POW" 10 times. Trust me I could think of several other models I couldve gone with but guess what? They arent on the roster...imagine that! Sorry mister but "getting over it" in my world is being up for 3 days in a country that wants to eliminate you and continuous training, NOT being cheated out of $300...Hell, I have kids to take care of

Did you buy this from Turners last week? I was actually looking at the same budget belly gun...

            Well. That was an....interesting, read.

Well, seeing how you don't actually have to USE two day shipping (it's a company policy, not a law), I'm not seeing the big deal here. And why would you pay $30 for a box of ammo? I can get $11 a box for LRN Priv Partizan .38SPL.
This is a cheap gun, use some cheap ammo. If you can afford $30 a box for ammo, buy a $500 gun and stop complaining.

You bought an INEXPENSIVE GUN: STUFF HAPPENS. Get over it dude!

Hell, I have kids to take care of
And this?!?! Seriously? If you ARE serious, and want an inexpensive gun that DOES work, forgo a few range trips and buy a Rock Island Armory G.I. 1911. Even my local gun store that over inflate the price on everything has one of these things available for $399. Very reliable, and a bigger punch than a revolver, and a faster reload.

Paul is correct, they will send you a pre-paid label or give you an account code for the fed-ex pickup. Customer service through Taurus is surprisingly good.
...but their exists also in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom.

Can you tell us who you've used that doesn't enforce this policy?

As I understand it, you must tell the person you hand the box to that there is a firearm in that box. That is law. USPS will hand it back (can't ship it with them; that's the law), the UPS rep will make you pay for overnight shipping if they value their job, and the FedEx rep will let you chose between overnight or two day if they value their job.

I would love to find a shipper willing to handle a firearm for $15...

It's a cheap gun, but even a Hi-point is cheaper and won't kaboom on regular loads.

One more question: this idea regarding getting what $300 pays for... I'm having a hard time with that. A lemon is a lemon regardless of how much you pay for it. I'm dealing with S&W right now on a gun shot barely more than the OPs, but that retails for over 5x what he paid. Should I have expected to never ever see the failure I saw because of the price?

Or to put it another way: there are $20k cars, and there are $200k cars. In either case, I would expect to be able to stick the key in, turn it and the engine to fire. How much I paid for that modern new car doesn't have anything to do with that level of expectation.

Every line has lemons. I think it is fair to say that a cheaper line has more. I like Brazilian stuff, except for Springfield because they don't cop to it, but if I were getting a 2 inch .357 I would remember atlanta's experience and get something else. If it shoots .38 ok and not .357, it is not a .357.

My S&W 340PD jams with certain loads. The bullet jumps the crimp. Never caused any damage and I switched to a different brand that doesn't do that. I would be PO'd if the gun was damaged.

No argument. But saying "when you buy a $300 gun that can happen" is a very different thing than what you and I just agreed on.

Perhaps you read something into my post that I did not intend.

Agreeing with you would be incidental.
