    interesting conversation at the range

I was shooting my Sig 1911, just having fun with the 3x5 cards I use for targets

So a kid (anybody under 40) comes over, with his tuperware gun that's jammed and asked for help. No problem, fixed it, cleared the jam and showed him how to take care of it for next time

So he sees my Golden Sabers and asks about them. Tell him their the 185g +p and work nice for my HD needs.

So he goes on the tell me how 185g in a .45 have no stopping power and how I need the 230g ammo to make sure that I get good stopping power blah, blah, blah
so then I ask him what he's shooting in his tuperware Gun and it's 147g 9mm WWB

    guess I'll never learn . . . .

Yeah, but he opted for the 147g instead of 115g because of the greater stopping power when used against paper bad guys.

So he can't clear a malfunction but is a expert on HD ammo?

Yeah I think he has a point.

Some of these mall ninjas should evaluate the stopping power of .22 ammo by getting shot in the knee.

So getting hit by a 55gr .223 should virtually bounce off your chest?

Nope they stop in fear before they ever hit the chest.

                Two things:
                1) the guy obviously doesn't actually know what he is talking about.
                2) I may have misunderstood the OP but the kid was only shooting 147gr WWB and not necessarily using it for HD. It still makes no sense given his argument though.

147gr WWB is a waste of money.

                      YUP!

I've used 115, 124, and 147 in 9mm and 124gr IMO is the best all around choice. Now if I had a sound suppressor I'd go with the 147gr but not only do I not have a sound suppressor, I also sold my 9mm last year.

In my 1911 I use 185gr JHP's (Hornady Critical Defense to be specific) over the 230's. If I load FMJ then I use the 230's but that's for target shooting.

Guess I don't know as much as a tupperware gun-toting mall ninja
