Skip the P2000 if it has the LE module with the heavy double action only trigger pull. Absolute crap.

Since you like a more compact gun, I would recommend the P2000 over the USP unless the USP fits your hand very well. I always found the USP, both FS and Compact a bit blocky.
I have a friend who has a couple of P2000s, who is making a shift over from his previous SIG 226s (better for CCW). He has one in DA/SA and another with the light LEM installed. The LEM pistol is actually easier to shoot accurately and quickly.
If you won't be getting a P30, the P2000 is a really nice option...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

The build quality on HKs is outstanding. They feel like jewels cut from black steel and polymer (well, mine does, anyway).
One minor thing is the mag release. On the USP, at least, it isn't a button you push in, but a button you push down (towards the mag well). I think it's actually a better design than the button we're all used to - it is less likely to get pushed while in a holster, and apparently its meant to be activated with a trigger finger, which does get the finger off the trigger during a reload. But it takes some getting used to. And once you're used to it, you probably fumble with the regular button. Arg. If I could convert to a regular button, I might.Comment

I have a USP .45 and it is a top notch weapon. Expensive, but you get what you pay for.
My only minor quibble with it is the non-standard rail, requiring an aftermarket adapter to mount a light. The checkering on the grip is pretty rough but a Hogue Handall makes this weapon feel like a million bucks. The USP is way too big for concealed carry but it is an awesome duty or nightstand gun.Comment

It was my duty weapon for the last two years of my career. I trusted my life to it, and still do.LASD Retired
