UTG/Leapers Scope in Orange County?

I want to checking out some UTG/Leapers scopes before buying one so I want to see if anybody knows who carry them in Orange County.

Save your money and go with something worthwhile like a Burris, Leupold, etc. etc. Or, spend the amount that you would on the UTG on a chlamydia infected prostitute, it'll be more fun in the short term, hurt a little less long term (once you start experiencing symptoms) and carries the same amount of shame, both options being curable mind you.

Sorry, don't know anywhere in the O.C.
My FIL had one on his SKS for around 1k rounds and was real happy with it. I'm sure it will be fine on a rimfire. It was much heavier and bulkier than my Walmart Centerpointe scope.

youd be better off with a simmons from walmart. UTG is complete crap, there is zero value to that brand. They arent even "ok for the money". Not even a case of "you get what you pay for" because you get less than you pay for with them.

Drink a beer, tape the bottle to the top of your gun when you're finished. You'll get the same quality as you will if you buy a UTG scope, but its cheaper and you get a beer out of it.

I had a leapers on my Sig 522.During an Appleseed shoot the cross hair fell off! Instead of a "+" I had to finish the shoot with a "T". That was the first time out with that scope!

Well guys, I certainly appreciate the feedback on UTG scopes but I just need a budget scope before the family buys me a good one for Christmas.

My Centerpointe was 55 bucks from Walmart and is pushing 6k rounds in my 10/22. I adjust windage and elevation every time I'm out and it still holds zero just fine. The green reticle wears out the battery faster than the red.

I would avoid the "Big 5" brands altogether - UTG/Leapers, BSA, UAG, and NCStar. They're all the same (as are I think most of the AIM scopes) just with different branding. I have a UTG rds that is very mediocre, and an NCStar scope that sucks. I tried one of NCStar's pistol scopes and it came apart on its first outing. That one got returned.

I just can't recommend any of these brands even for casual shooting at the range. You'll be annoyed and frustrated by the cheap rings, the inability of the scopes to hold zero, and ultimately their failure. I was taken in by their price, but seriously, for not that much more money you can get a Nikon or Redfield that will serve you much better and longer.

Learn from my mistakes and invest just a bit of extra money into your optics!

Basically I need a cheaper alternative to a Burris MTAC 1.5-6x

Some of the Leapers/UTG stuff isn't actually that bad. For budget scopes, they typically have better glass than comprable scopes from BSA, Barska, or NCStar. I've had one of their 3-12X44 SWAT scopes on my AR-10 for about 5 years now, never had any issues over countless trips to the desert. The glass is clear enough to see and engage targets at 1000 yards. The scope holds zero perfectly, every time I take it out it's always hitting in the same place although admittedly I hardly ever touch the knobs on this scope. I use the mil dots as holdover points, so I can't really attest to it's ability to return to a zero point through repeated adjustments. I originally bought it as an interim scope until I could find something better. I'm sure there are a lot of better scopes out there, but I kind of lost interest in looking for them because this one seems to work extremely well for my style of shooting.





Another brand worth looking into is Sightmark. I wouldn't touch most of their older scopes, as they had really limited internal adjustment ranges of about 30 moa total elevation travel. Most of their newer scopes are actually quite good though. I've had really good results with their 2.5-10X32 mil dot scope. The glass on these is exceptionally clear, and the 1/4 moa adjustments track well and return to zero every time. Internal travel on these is advertised at 100 moa, but the two I have actually have around 135 moa of travel. One feature I really like on these is the illuminated reticle. Rather than the entire reticle lighting up, this has a small dot in the center of the cross hair that illuminates. At 2.5X, it's almost as fast to get on target as a dedicated red dot sight, although both eyes open is a bit tricky due to the magnification,
