It's like they have a room full of monkeys who want to please every potential gun buyer in the world. Not saying it's a bad thing (except for the scalloped springs in teal), but wow are they pumping out the variants:

Mosquito MULTI CAM TB
Thats not a bad looking sig, i think they do it because they know people will buy more of one type of firearm arm if it's a special edition.ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

It's probably more the case that they wouldn't be pushing them out if people weren't buying them up. It must make its own business case, seems it is?"Just leave me alone, I know what to do." - Kimi Raikkonen

That's the last thing that Colt did right before they nearly went out of business, during a bad economy. Too many choices made for too much unsold stock, or guns that couldn't be sold due too many one-off specialties that maybe only a few people would like and then you have to catch that person on a day when they want to buy AND have the money. It's like they have a room full of monkeys who want to please every potential gun buyer in the world. Too many choices jsut creates overhead. Look at Glock or HK; they limit the number of variations to utility and reason, and they seem to sell nearly every gun they make.Last edited by The Gleam; 09-20-2012, 1:23 PM.-----------------------------------------------

That's because there's not much difference between a room full of monkeys and a gun store counter. I hear more BS in one visit at the indoor range than I encountered in 4 years of military service. It's like they have a room full of monkeys who want to please every potential gun buyer in the world. The average gun buyer is a male with more money than brains, who buys their guns based on A) what they look like and B) their street cred among other gun owners. Sig has part B locked down, so its just a matter of tweaking part A to the whims of the morons with a lot of disposable income.
Face it-gun buyers who bother to research their purchases are rare. Most of 'em buy guns because it draws the oohs and ahs on the firing line, not because the weapon is actually practical. The more prohibitions you have, the less virtuous people will be.
The more subsidies you have, the less self reliant people will be.

I've been fishing around trying to figure which pistol to buy for 3-Gun competition. This one looks like it might be the one:
Or maybe this one:
This would be it, absolutely, if they made it in black. The only gun they don't have, of course, is the one that I really want:

Spend Half as much and use the rest of the money for mags and gear.
The 34 is ready to go.Comment

if you're going to be shooting a lot i'd say go with the 9mm, it will save you a buttload in ammo cost. I've never done 3gun nor do i think i will, i lack the skill, but good luck to you out there.ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

I've been to one match and believe me, you don't need any skill at all -- just the ability to keep your muzzle pointed away from yourself and from others.Comment

I give everyone my blessing to mock, ridicule and flame me for saying so, but there is one SIG (P232) that I actually think looks kinda cool in rainbow titanium.
I also confess to owning one "bling" SIG, a P229 Equinox.
However, I do think they have gone over the top with offering model variants. My understanding is that it's just part of what Cohen brought with him from Kimber. If you look at the Kimber line you'll see a similar offering of exotic coking serrations along with exotic names like "raptor."
With the exceptions listed above, I prefer my SIGs in basic, old school black(ish) and simple. But to each his own, I guess. If they can manage their inventory to match 25 variants of the P226 to consumer demand, more power to them.Comment
