Okay, so your importer form will now include long guns as well as handguns.

I have only ever bought C&R pistols out of state.

And the 2014 rifle registration info is in the sticky in the 2A forum, http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=399849
ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Now would it change things if the rifle was in a pistol caliber like 9mm or .45? Or does tht make it carbine?

Nope a rifle is a rifle.

Unless it is a C&R, sbr, sbs, or full auto. Do you guys think there is a chance the law will be repealed before it starts? Because I can only afford around 3-4 long guns before it starts .

Another good reason to buy as many 'lowers' as you can.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

No doubt the CGF is already working on it. Perhaps they can file an injunction? Of course the DOJ will have to update the software and add a space for the s/n, make and model on the DROS. I wonder how long it would take to make that change and implement it.

                    The answer is yes. (right?)

All new long gun purchases or transfers or importations will need to be registered.
After 2014 the paperless cash and carry of 50+ year old C&R long guns for non-FFLs in California will be gone.

After 2014 a California C&R FFL will need to get a COE if he wants C&R long guns shipped directly to him from out of state or if he wants to acquire C&R long guns directly from other California residents without going through California dealer. No DROS or dealer involvement will be required for these kinds of acquisitions, but self registration will be required.

That's that bad news. The good news is that the "50 years old" restriction is going away, so California C&R FFLs with COEs will be able to receive C&R long guns of any age without having to go through a California dealer.

I hate the term "registration". The only guns in California that are "registered" are assault weapons and 50BMG's.

What we have is "de facto registration" via the state's laws requiring the reporting of sales and/or importation of firearms.

If we had "registration", ALL guns in California would be required to be reported. Currently, they are not, and likely never will be. (hopefully)
