Oakland gun buy back a SCAM

Just got back from Oakland. The buy back was a joke. First the line was sooooo long, at least 100 cars that it took over 1 1/2 hours to reach the church and that was after I took police approved cuts at least 75% ahead of every one else. I was the last car that was granted cuts, I think because I was super polite to the cop who was shuting down the cut lane. With out cuts the wait could have easly been 4-5 hours. After sitting in line an hour a cop comes up and informs me they are only buying assualt weapons and simi automatic handguns, no revolvers, shotguns or bolt actions. There goes my first $250 Its also funny that Don Peralta made such a big deal about turning in his handgun, which was a revolver. What a smuck! So I finally make it to the front of the line, my bladder is screaming, when a cop comes over to see what I got. I show him my non working pos French .25 simiauto handgun and he tells me that they are only buying large caliber handguns. WTF! Bye bye easy money. Lucky for me they did buy my .25 for $50 bucks with private money donated by some do-gooder. $50 bucks is more than the gun was worth. I was hoping to come home with $500 but instead I maybe broke even considering how long it took.

You should contact your local newspaper and mention that they weren't buying back all the guns as they should. This is your chance to be on the "other side" whislt sticking it to them. Complain that the police were letting GUNS back on the street because it didn't meet their criteria.

They only wanted large caliber handguns?

That doesn't make sense, since the handguns used most commonly in crimes are small caliber semi-autos...

But, then again, the whole buy-back doesn't make sense either.

I don't view it as support. The way I see it I ripped them off. They paid me money for a gun that dosent work and short of devine intervenion will never work. They got zero from me. And I'm that much closer to a retro lower.

They got zero? Apparently your time is worth nothing. My time and fuel on a Saturday is worth more than $50.

Really? No way. Not unless you were interviewed by the media, identified yourself as an avid firearms enthusiast, indicated how stupid the buyback was, showed the gun in question, clarified its garbage and worthless status, and the fact you were going to get $250 for it---- and they publish/air it...

All you did was sit in line for a few hours and probably get your car photographed with all the others "waiting to get the baby killing drug dealing implements of death off the streets." That much the media will cover.

                        Yeah. You ****** them alright.

Sure, I was hoping for $250 but still I traded a useless piece of metal for $. I can't beleve people are upset with what I did with a piece of my personal property.

Well, just for the record, I'm not upset. I find the irony of your morning adventure quite amusing.
