I never had a lot of guns since I started back around 1977. I started with a Ruger Security Six and had that for over 4 years, and then, I purchased a Thompson Contender with a 44 bull barrel. So now I started to reload .357 and .44Mag. Then I got the 14" Contender Barrel in 7mm TC/U, yet another reloading die. Then I felt I wanted a semi-auto so I sold the Ruger and got a 9mm Beretta 92FS, now another 9mm RCBS die set.
Had that one for over 10 years.

As soon as I inherited my father in-laws .22LR 3 years ago, I've steadily began to purchase firearms: SA 1911 .45ACP, S&W M&P15-22, Colt LE6920, and sometime this year, a .357/.38 revolver... I miss my Ruger a lot so I may go for the GP100.

    So currently I shoot:

    .22LR
    9mm
    44 Mag.
    .45ACP
    7mm TC/U
    .223

To answer the question, I dropped the .357 but will get back into it soon.

I just recently (10 days ago, actually) eliminated .40 from my collection, think I'll stick with .22, 9mm, & .45 for handguns.

It wasn't really a downsize on number if calibers though, since I traded the 96 for an AR, which is a new caliber for me.

I pick up the AR tonight.

        I've given up:

        .30 Carbine
        .22 LR
        .45 ACP

When I say 'given up' I mean that I don't shoot those calibers regularly anymore, and any ammo & guns for them are mothballed and I don't buy more until further notice. I'm waiting to reload for .30 carbine and then I'll pick it up again, but until then, into the storage closet/fallout bunker armory it goes...

I gave up 45 cal for the much superior 9mm...

In reality I had a 45 itch that once scratched, left me not wanting to load up on another caliber so I sold my P220 and got a 226 Navy!

            I sold off all things 8mm, 9mm and .303
Rarely shoot .30-06 or .30 carbine anymore either.

Pretty much I am down to 7.62x54r and .223 for rifle, .40 and .45 for pistol

I'm in the process of ridding myself of all 9mm.

Tried ridding myself of 9MM... that didn't work, started shooting Production class in USPSA.

Tried ridding myself of .40 S&W... that didn't work, switched from Production to Limited and wanted the least expensive major caliber. Couldn't get rid of the G17 because my daughter shoots it at GSSF and USPSA.

                Now I'm contemplating the G20SF that a buddy wants to sell... I'm going backwards! That's on top of .22LR, .25 ACP (yes, I have one, never fired it... I'm afraid to - lol), .32-20, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, 9MM, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, 5.56MM, 7.62X51MM, .410, 20 Gauge and 12 Gauge.

OK, I did manage to rid myself of 30-06. Guess that's something.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I made the decision to give up .40 about a year and a half ago. Just wanted to simplify to 9mm. Kinda miss it but oh well. Hoping to pick up my first .45 sometime in the next couple months.

My friend left me his handgun collection with a .22, .45 and a .44 magnum. I just bought a .357 magnum. Wait, I did this wrong.

Metric calibers are a european conspiracy to weaken our country. George Washington didn't shoot 9mm.

I probably won't drop any calibers, but if I did the most likely contenders are 380 or 9mm.

The 380 LCP is (was since I moved to CA) my most often carried gun, but if I got a LC9 type to replace, I could consolidate to 9mm and drop 380.

The other most likely scenario is to drop 9mm, but keep 380.

Most likely of all is to not drop any calibers, but not add any new ones either.

Yup. Gave up .40. Seems like the same thought process as you. Every other pistol caliber I reloaded was using a large pistol primer except for the .40. Decided reloading it was too much of a hassle for just one gun and buying factory all the time was too expensive so I sold it off and just kept the dies for my 10mm. Now that's a caliber worth reloading.
