    New Tech only website

Not trying to redirect away from CalGuns - just informing about a new tech only site.

I've encouraging the moderator to redirect their members to come here for politics and 2a talk.

No thank you. Its a fanboy sight waiting to happen. Guys with real tech skill on firearms will be banned and you are left with mob rules tech...

The above warnings apply to signatures, links to outside sites, etc. If you seem to be a generally good person, the moderator will probably give you a chance to correct the matter yourself. But... the moderators have the right and the ability to temporarily or PERMANENTLY ban anyone on the site. The site administrators and owner will generally side on the side of a moderator, even if they didn't agree with the action.
So if I post Mil-B-11595E doesn't say all M16s must have 4150CMV steel
    AND
4150CMV steel is not the best barrel steel for an AR15
    AND
4140CM is a known better steel for the AR15

when a mod reads this he bans me... everyone knows 4150CMV is what the cool kids use so it must be the best... pay no attention to the fact 99% of all battle field weapons DO NOT have & HAVE never used this steel...

Forums are all about building a community. No off-topic discussion? No camaraderie-building? No discussion of new laws which may impact the userbase? I don't really see a forum with those types of rules surviving long-term.

m4c kicks out non-serious types regularly, but they still have room for discussing current events, etc.

yeah and the problem with M4C is they only allow discussion based on what the current fan-boy populace agrees with. The second you bring factual, up to date science that contradicts their little mindset you can expect harassment from the members....not just harassment, but MODERATOR SUPPORTED HARASSMENT...

If several people gang up on a member who has the same mindset as a Mod, the Mod will kick them all to the curb protecting the fan boy member.

I am not saying it doesn't happen here, because it does also, but to plan a website around that type of BS is a failure from the word go. Atleast here [most] guys can go their own way and speak their mind without fear of a perma-ban.

I certainly wouldn't call the mindset/populace "fan-boy" there. They seem to actively discriminate against this, in fact, and the bias appears to be based around tried-and-true products and methodologies. The fact that there are certain trainers and industry personnel that post there almost exclusively says a lot.

If we dig into the commonly understood meaning of fan-boy (using the Urban Dictionary definition, LOL):

Known for a complete lack of objectivity in relation to their preferred focus. Usually argue with circular logic that they refuse to acknowledge. Arguments or debates with such are usually futile. Every flaw is spun into semi-virtues and everything else, blown to comedic, complimentary proportions.
This sounds more like the types of folks you find at ACRForum and similar forums. The types that will argue that their rifle hasn't had any problems yet, so you're evidence of industry professionals that see high numbers of them break or malfunction in carbine courses must be wrong. The types that take honest criticism of a product as a personal attack just because they own and/or like said product. These are exactly the types that don't survive at m4c.

I'm not saying that ACRForum has lots of these people, just that's the type of forum where you see them the most. I could make a similar case about a lot of other forums.

            I joined that tech website.

@ M03, you are missing the point. many people have posted that M4C has an unwritten rule...people are NOT equal there. No one has the right to bash an Industry professional paying member even when they are vomiting crap via keyboard.

I have no right to tell Travis Haley he is wrong even if I show scientific evidence that he is in fact wrong...it will get deleted by the mods. The mods fear losing Mr Haley as a member more then losing some random guy with a degree in engineering.

Most all Industry Professionals are selling you something... whats the first rule..."Don't ask a salesman how much something is worth." Industry Professional guide you down the street they own for a reason...and don't want you looking in places they don't own.

The Industry Professionals at M4C are mainly built around Military and law enforcement use of the AR15...thats less than 1% of the user base. 90% of what they say is useless to a civilian, yet 90% of the people who own an AR15 look to them for advise.

Here is an analogy... who do you want teaching you about survival post-SHTF a taliban fighter or a US Navy SEAL? If you pick the SEAL...you fail at understanding your position in a post-SHTF world. 90% of the knowledge base at M4C is based on crap you don't need or want as a civilian...and much of that is useless to an LEO also...but they sure look cool in the videos

Can you provide a cite of an actual situation where someone had reliable, empirical data that contradicted an industry professional and was banned for posting it?

                me...

I got into a debate about mil-b-11595e and the person posted that the mil=spec stated the M16 family rifle must use that steel. I posted a link to the mil-spec and told them to give me the paragraph number where it said that. My reply was deleted, the statement I replied to (and quoted) was altered as to not let the Industry profession look like a freaking idiot and the thread soon disappeared in vaporland.

I have also seen post about the critical flaw in 4150CMV and how its NOT a very good barrel steel deleted..because the OP in the thread was showing everyone they just got a new shipment of M4 Profile AR15 barrels and was letting them go for $XXX.XX This was in a a general forum so the thread crapping rule shouldnt apply as it would on a For Sale thread.

The whole RobS AR15 chart thing is a freaking joke...it shows how the best around town car is got to be the Chevy Corvette and here's why....blah blah blah gag me with a fork fan boy BS. Try to show that a Ford Escort is better and you get flamed like a labor day hotdog.

Interesting. How long ago was this, and what industry professionals were involved? (answering via PM is fine)
