Wow this looks like a turners thread.

so, this is my first post on calguns however I have been lurking for quite some time. I just needed to comment and echo the comments about FCA. Tim and his entire team there are fantastic!

I bought a 1911 from Greta's a couple years ago and while everything went smooth it was a cold experience. It really seemed like they thought they were just doing me a favor by allowing me to buy a gun from them. Never mind their prices, the Mini 14 I priced out in January was ~$930 while I got it at big 5 for ~$770. never shopping at greta's again unless I have no other choice.

Last August I dropped off a revolver at Gretas to be cleaned and serviced... two months later I was still calling to find out what the status was and when I could pick it up, I spent 15 minutes on hold while they tried to find the thing.

A friend of mine recently dropped off 4 rifles which had not been cleaned in at least a decade to FCA on a Wednesday, he picked them up on Saturday in excellent condition. Fantastic service!

FCA and Tim are fantastic, I try to buy product from him when I am there even if I don't need it. I will also buy ammo from him even when its a little cheaper at big 5 down the street, we need to support the small business's that do it right whenever we can.

I went to Greta's to do a PPT with a friend of mine, and had a positive experience. I had originally gone to FT Courage, but they don't do HSC tests, and my friend needed to get his HSC card.

We posted a sign in the shop to let everyone know it. We love guns and we love your interest in them. We have met some really cool people along the way. I make it a point to do EVERYTHING through you guys. As a matter of fact, you have one coming your way through Gunbroker within the next few days. IMO, Fort Courage is the best gunshop in SOCAL. Hands Down.

Tim at Fourt Courage is the man in Simi.

                Big thumbs DOWN for Gretas.

One of the issues with FCA is that many people do not know they exist and think that Greta's is the only game in town.

I do special orders and transfers, but I have heard from many of my customers who refuse to set foot into Greta's due to Chris. One even said that if he won a firearm at a FNRA event, he would not pick it up if Greta's was doing it. I even heard an interesting story about Chris' thumb, as well I heard that Chris said that he owns the property he is on now, but was told that property records says otherwise. I also heard a different story as to where the name came from, not from the dog. There are others stories, which I can not confirm, which are not positive. My only personal experience was going into their old location and being completely ignored.

The web site says "We have been in business and at the same location in Simi Valley since 1994.", but I am not sure of how that can be since they moved locations and the other location was in Simi Valley.

I know that I one point I called to see how much a transfer was and was quoted $150. Yeah, I was curious as I did not believe what I had heard. Prior to that I heard they refused to receive a firearm. I heard that they dropped the fee to $100 and now it might be down to $70. They don't seem to list their fees on their web page.

I also had a customer who ordered 10 AR lowers (just before a ban) and Greta's received them, but then refused to transfer them. The customer had to re-order them and have them delivered to me. I never heard what happened to the lowers that Greta's received.

Gretas charged me an illegal $40 fee for a PPT. I was told by them the DOJ charges them $35 and the extra $5 was there profit. BS I let the DOJ know and I was told they had gotten several complaints about that same issue and were going to set Gretas straight on the fees they could charge. I will never do business with them ever again. I hope it was worth the extra $5 for them to never get me to shop there.

Asked Jason at Greta's if he would receive a gun from an out of state FFL, he chewed me out for spending my money elsewhere, I ran out of that store. I was there a few months ago and I think they have a different crew working there, they seemed to be a bit more friendly, only their prices scared me away this time.

Experience with Greta's was similiar. Owner was rude, profane and had anger management issues. Graphic pictures of KIA casulties hung up on the wall for all to see also does not promote a positive image of gun ownership to the public.

I liked them as well. I bought a Mossberg 590 from them last year. Knowledgable and friendly staff. Prices are reasonable as well!

I cringe if I have to go anywhere but Fort Courage, all of my firearms purchases the last 2 or so years have gone through Tim. Thumbs up to a store that actually cares about their customers, and doesn't give you any bullcrap to boot.

BTW, Tim did the transfer on the Commander in my sig pic. LOL.
