Hey Folks, After noticing that quite a few new people have been joining the forum and not really having a opportunity to introduce themselves, I decided to start a thread in hopes that you would take a moment to read it, enjoy it, and hopefully introduce yourself as well. My name is Bill aka Stormfeather. Im a huge firearms fan, and I enjoy firearms history as well. I got introduced to CalGuns by a former member called ShopKeep, some liked him, some didnt, he was interesting to say the least.
To give you a little bit of background on myself, I have had the pleasure of serving in the USMC for about 10 years, whereas I became a deputy sheriff for a few years after that. Im a certified Glock Armorer, Sig Armorer, and am currently waiting to become a Colt Armorer. I currently am employed as a Private Security Contractor with a well known private firm that works mostly overseas. Ive travelled to about 39 countries and have enjoyed most of them immensely. I first got into the OLL lifestyle by working in a gunstore part time and having a customer come in and ask about OLL's. Not knowing what they was, I did some research and then was directed to CalGuns by a customer. Since then, I have built about 15 OLL's, but about 12 of those was for members here or for personal friends.
In the beginning, I had quite a few questions in regards to this OLL phenomenon, and not alot of resources to get those answers. Fortunately the good folks on here put it all down in black and white for me to read. The basic idea behind these OLL's can be found in this thread here.

Take a moment to read it, familiarize yourself with it, and hopefully it will answer many of the questions you may have about this fun new aspect of firearms ownership in California. Another great item to print out and put with your OLL once you have legally built it is this following memo. It is a easy reference guide to help you if questioned about your OLL.

After you have made an introduction, please feel free to peruse this thread for all technical questions in regards to OLL's!

The members here are a great group of folks, who will usually go to great lengths to help someone new to the forum. We advocate building these recievers in a legal only fashion and manner. You wont find out how to make your gun full-auto, or learn how to do things incorrectly, but you will learn how to build a OLL in a correct, legal configuration that will keep you out of jail as long as you are shooting it legally in conformation with your areas laws.
Please make a point to follow the etiquitte set down by the moderators, and the members of this forum. Everyone here has contributed, at the very least a little bit, and for some others, quite alot, to make this forum the outstanding reference point that it is in regards to firearms laws within the state of California. I promise you that we will not intentionally lead you wrong, and that the members here all, are willing to make sure you enjoy your time here as a contributing member. Please remember that while we all are aiming for the goal of a Pro 2nd Amendment state, we may sometimes have an opinion that is different to others on this forum. While there is nothing wrong with discussing as adults, our various views, ideologies, and values, please remember to keep it civil. We as a community are responsible for policing our own, and making sure that even though we may disagree on a subject, we still are willing to stand beside each other in the fight to maintain our second amendment rights. I look forward to talking with all of you on the boards!
