Check out my custom paint work!

I'm really into painting guns, I love it. I started about a year ago. I do everything from scratch. First I draw the stencils by hand, then I cut them out with my computer / machinery, and then I use them to paint guns. I also mix all the paint myself, I used to get it professionally matched but they really sucked at it. I use an airbrush.

I've been painting airsoft replicas because unfortunately I'm not old enough to have an FFL (I'm 19) but I plan to finally get into painting real fire arms ASAP. I have painted real firearms before though, just only certain parts. Anyways... here are some pictures of my work. Enjoy!

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774_1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764

I'm in Victorville, unfortunately I don't have an FFL yet so I'm not able to paint full rifles. I paint furniture and stocks pretty often and I constantly paint airsoft replicas. Also, I use automotive paint. It is very durable and the paint is incredibly flat (not shiny) but it will melt when the gun exceeds certain temperatures, so I also can't paint barrels. I plan to start using duracoat when I get more into realsteall firearms.

I'm actually a little uncertain about the laws on this. Some people say I'm allowed to handle / paint any part of the gun without a serial number, does anyone know if that's true?

What I do need (to paint full rifles) is an FFL for gunsmithing (at least I believe that's what paint work is considered.)

                  Can't wait until I turn 21!

How durable is your paint job? In other words, how does it hold up?

I have an OD PS90 stock that I would love to have done in Multicam.. possible?

You can have and paint any part of any gun without the serial number (ie, the part of the gun that is considered "the gun".. for example, the lower reciever of an AR would be off limits unless the owner stayed there while you did the job (ie, couldn't leave it)

I believe you just can't have the receiver (the part that has the serial number/makes the gun work) without an FFL as you would be receiving a firearm illegally since you are not/are not going through, an FFL. The person could stay there while you did the work, but they'd need to take it when they go.

I was looking at the pricing and shipping info as I may want to have the stock of a rifle painted, and just one suggestion:
It is not legally required that you’re gun be shipped with an orange tip.
                        Change that to "your"

Yep, Multicam is my specialty. I could do it. The automotive paint is pretty durable. I play airsoft all the time and the black widow rifle is my gun, the paint has held up very well, and with airsoft I don't just shoot it, I roll around with it

It's all the prep-work I do. I use a very good primer and prep guns in a very specific way to increase durability. People think it's all about the paint your using, but prep also plays a big role.

The flat clear I use is awesome, it's really durable and leaves an amazing flat finish. A customer had a rifle hydrodipped and preferred my paint job to it because hydropdipped finish had a sheen and shine to it he didn't like, and the colors were too vibrant.

(Picture, the sniper was hydrodipped and the M4 was done by me, I actually do an even better Multicam now, this just showing off the finish)

This also showcases how my flat clear performs:

I do plan on duracoating in the future which will solve a main issue with real-steal (heat). But I don't have the cash to invest in practice paint at the moment.

Thank you everyone for the kind words! I love painting guns and I have spent many many hours practicing the trade. It's been very frustrating at times and I've learned a lot over the past year. The support really helps keep me at it. Friends and family have often told me to give it up on account of how challenging and time-consuming it gets but I don't wanna
