If I remember correctly, the Vacquero is same as Colt, Uberti, ect - low pressure rounds.
But of course the Blackhawk can handle the high pressure rounds (if that was the point you were making).
I'm still confused about the .45LC round. Seems like a huge bastard, but really low and slow...
BTW: I'll put my (lower cost) Beretta Stampede Deluxe against any gun for looks. It is really stunning... Not true to the old Colt style, but dang, it looks cool..

The 45LC is that way as it started out as a black powder round and in its day as a BP round was powerfull. With BP you need a large case to get enough powder in it to preform. Smokeless power designed rounds do not need all that space and newer powders have given us more options yet. Still it is a good round(parent of the 454Casull) and in STRONG Framed guns can be pumped up beyond what the original round was designed. Same goes for the old 45-70 Gov round. I have a trapdoor which requires mild(standard) loads and it requires very little smokeless powder to do so. Then I have a modern rifles and I can load it much hotter. BUT NEVER use the hotter loads in the trapdoor or it will come apart due to the weaker action.A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I have one for sale here on CalGuns (Blackhawk 357 Convertible that shoots 9mm, 38spc and 357mag) and I can already tell I'm going to regret selling it. But life's responsibilities call, and all that...
They really are amazingly fun to shoot. And if you can run ammo thru it on the cheap? What's not to love."This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave." - Elmer DavisComment

A vote for the convertible Blackhawk
I own a Ruger Blackhawk (.357/9mm). Love that extra cylinder so I can bring only one type of ammo and shoot both my semi-auto and my Blackhawk.I have one for sale here on CalGuns (Blackhawk 357 Convertible that shoots 9mm, 38spc and 357mag) and I can already tell I'm going to regret selling it. Oh man, I want one of Uberti's 1858 New Army conversions sooo bad, but evidently they are pretty hard to get a hold of. The shop I went to claims they've got a waiting list several dozen long, some of which have been waiting up to half a year for Uberti to do another run of them.Comment

He might have been thinking about cowboy loads and assumed they were the standard load for .45c. I know most of the SA owners I know shoot those over the standard even though their guns are fully capable of handling the normal loads. Though they are also the type that like to dress up like cowboys on the weekends when they go shoot >.>Comment

I agree with the caliber choice of .45 or .44 in a 'cowboy' or 'western' style single action. JMO.
Had a friend years ago save up and buy a real Colt SAA.....in .357.
I was like....WTF?!"I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them."

Yeah: I hate to diss the .357 as I use it for personal defense ammo. Truth be told, had I a double action Ruger (I'm thinkin' a 4" Redhawk) in .45, the .45 Colt would be my defense ammo.
I have sorely been tempted to replace my .357 GP100 with my Vaquero in the night stand. But heck. It's a single action. True, I can cock for the next shot pretty well. But there you have it: I've not made the switch.
Theory in my head is that a bigger bullet diameter and a bigger mass is the better move. Now, since I'm a reloader, I have made a load with 10.5 gr Unique under a 255 gr LRNFP. Clocks in at just under 1200 fps for gnarly load, but with a single action, getting back on target requires lots of practice. My best load for the Vaquero is 8.5 gr Unique under the 255 gr LRNFP, which gives me about 950 fps. That's a substantial load, still.
When I get a Redhawk, I'll make the switch.
In my GP100 I use 158 gr CCI Blazers for defense, so you can see I prefer a heavier bullet. This is still a really great self defense round. Well, it lays waste to punkins anyway...
The best situation is to have too many choices. When I get my Redhawk, maybe I'll rotate them.

I'm currently working on a trade, my S&W 66-7 ( current model) for a Super Blackhawk .44 Mag.Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.
