Flew with a gun no issues

I was all prepared for worst case scenarios and paranoid from all different posts and things I've read, but it was completely uneventful.
I went I told the counter guy (UNITED) he said, "here sign this red tag and put it in your luggage". I gave them my bag and went on my merry way.
I would do this again without hesitation.

What did you think was going to happen? It's perfectly legal and people do it all the time.
I have never had any problem checking multiple firearms.

        Hype:
They will have TSA check the case, check my id, check to see if it is in my name.
They will steal it, bag will never arrive at destination.
They will alert TSA and have advance screening (look in my booty hole)

Wow big surprise, nothing happened. But don't worry, someone will be along to tell a story of horror and how they were manly and told off the TSA people.

Yep, I've flown out of SJC, SFO, and airports outside of California with no issues whatsoever. Worst case was that they had to page me once because the X-ray indicated a dense mass on one side of the case (boxes of ammo) and they needed to have a look. The TSA supervisor at SJC was extremely pleasant.

I recently flew out from PVD. After inspecting it at the ticket counter, one of the ticket agents had to escort me and my firearm to a special TSA room where I handed it over to a TSA agent. The TSA agent then took it into a locked room where he scanned the unlocked, closed case. I was not allowed into the room. Once he gave his stamp of approval, he came out and had me lock the case. I then handed it over to the ticket agent who then took it through another secret door.

Apparently, the procedure is not standardized for all airports. The process went surprisingly smooth. Luckily, I got to the airport early before the crowd arrived. If the ticket agents were swamped, I probably would have had to wait a long time for the approval process.

I fly with firearms once every month or so and have yet to have had an issue. Depending on the airport, sometimes it can take longer to get it through but otherwise it has been pretty painless. Glad to hear you had the same experience.

I have flown quite a bit with firearms and the only bump to date was in Texas with a TSA gun fondler.

So now that you've flown with a firearm, you have some experience and know to not believe those idiots who talk like an expert but have no real life experience in the matter. Hopefully, you will be able to spot the idiots in the future and ignore them.

ive flow a few times with guns no issue either. Some one mentioned they had ammo though and i thought that was a no go ill have to look it up. Be nice to be able to take my ammo with me instead of trying to buy / find ammo after the flight.

I have heard that ammo needs to be in a factory box and (not 100% on this) but not in the same case as the gun, but still needs to be in a checked bag.
Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

You live in California. There's always more crazy. It's a renewable resource.

If you fly into NYC with a handgun you are in deep doo even if you filled out all paperwork correctly.
