    Turner's policy- locks not returnable?

I recently purchased an new pistol at Turner's Outdoorsman. They added a new lock to the purchase and DROS. I figured no problem, I'll return it. I have purchased a new AR lower from a different LGS and they allowed me to return the lock for full refund. I've also returned locks from Wal Mart that I used for a PPT of a pistol and a rifle at other FFLs.

So today I go back to Turner's to exchange the lock for an extra magazine. When the manager comes to the register he says gun locks cannot be returned. I asked why not. He said by law you have to buy a lock with the gun. I agreed but now I'm returning an UNUSED and UNOPENED lock. They actually let me leave the store without locking the gun or case. He said it's Turner's policy not to refund gun locks.

    Am I SOL?

Here is a little something for your consideration (not me)-

What's sad is almost all handgun manufacturers now include a lock from the factory. I have bought several HK, S&W, and Ruger handguns in the last few years. Each one came with a CA approved lock from the factory.

I know for a fact that in the past Turners used to pull extra magazines from the box and sell them separately. My wife used to work for them, and they had her do it almost daily. It wouldn't surprise me if they were pulling that baloney just to sell locks.

And based on the photo, you're worried about a lock?

Funny thing is Turners let me walk out the door with the pistol unlocked. The other LGS put a lock on my lower but let me return the lock same day.

Does anyone know if Turners lock policy is written anywhere?

This. The entire chain is a joke. Try to avoid at all costs, unfortunately I just did a transaction with a member here and the closest FFL was Turner's. Need to buy a gun lock before going in there, think I will do what was said earlier and buy a lock at Wal-mart on my way out and return it on my way home.

Why not post in the Turner's section and let them respond?

I went into one gun store that sold their locks, with gun purchase, for one cent each. THAT'S the way to do it!

Nice of you to consider us!

I got 6 pistols from Turners last year, the first 3 came with factory locks. The other 3 were the deals they had on Walther P1's which came with no locks, on each of them they let me slip through the cracks without getting one.

Ya.... Most of the time, if a gun doesn't come with a lock and the customer is a nice guy, the LGS I work at throws in a free lock.

                          I've had a similar experience at Turner's.

I've returned one to Turner's before, but it wasn't attached to any DROS forms or anything, just a receipt and a lock. The process to return was long, due to their form you must fill out. Now I just buy at Big 5 and then return.....much faster.
