US Forest Ranger confiscating guns on BLM

Heads up! their is a US forest service ranger in Eldorado County that is confiscating guns. (not mine)

We were shooting on BLM land, I had my Pre Ban Registered Bushmaster M17 Bullpup with a couple of pre 2000 high cap Mags sitting on the table. His first question what did that start as? Answer the same thing it is now a Bushmaster Bullpup DUH. He runs my ID thru NCIC. I had my wife text me a copy of the DOJ RAW letter and he gives me my gun back and we continued to shoot.

He told me he confiscated 7 guns in the last 2 weeks for using high cap mags in bullet button guns, not having BB's on post ban guns and using the magnetic BB tools that stay on the gun.

Good! Idiots were breaking the law. That just makes us lawful gunowners look bad.

That sucks. But pretty much, don't break the law and you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the heads up bro. I know a few guys who shoot up there who don't do things by the book. Maybe it will be a lessoned learned.

No doubt don't break the law keep your guns.

It was funny he had no clue what it was thought it was a kit gun and kept asking me what it started as. Then asks what is the BFI "Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC" DUH

              Mixed feelings here...

If the guns confiscated are/were technically illegal in CA, then I have no sympathy for the "gun owners". On that note, why were they not arrested on the spot?

On the other hand... I know better than to rush to judgement without all the facts... Wait and see...

Saw the title and immediately got angry. However, it sounds like he had very good reason. Simple answer; know the laws (as best you can in this state) and follow them. Do this and you have nothing to worry about.

I thought it was ok to use high cap mags that you had pre ban as long as there were no more than 10 rounds loaded.

No. Inserting a high cap into a Bullet Buttoned Rifle makes it an assault weapon. Only 10 rounds magazines. Nothing else.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

It is not required that you have a copy of your RAW paperwork. Lucky the wife had it to send over; getting the weapon taken away would be a real problem and assumes you are breaking the law. Kind of makes me mad.

I do assume many of these law enforcement people simply do not know the law. So to protect my property and rights I carry a copy of my CDOJ RAW paperwork.

I didn't feel that way about it. Sure got my attention, tho!

If a person is breaking the law & gets caught, Oh Well!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.
