Funny you say that as they also sell just the adapter as a solvent trap so you can catch all your cleaning solvents in a filter. They are not reg'd with ATF since they are not meant to use as a suppressor. Shoot through the can and you create an unreg'd suppressor...

Well I would never shoot thru the suppressor while I am cleaning my gun. Anyway if I did that would be illegal, I would never do that.

Beard, cigarette, and a suppressed SBR. I think I have a new hero.

Oil filters must be serialized, and only changed on an exchange basis by a shop that holds an oil filter permit. All old oil filters must be destroyed with documentation. It stands for army navy and specifies the type of flair used on a specific fitting. At least that was the original spec. I think the term is more loosely applied these days. Commonly used to make braided hoses for use on cars and planes.

The web site says you can save money using a used oil filter!!!

I'm not sure but hot gasses and burning powder in a used oil filter doesn't sound like something I would do. Are not most oil filters paper too?

As others have said the adapter would be the NFA item, or the barrel depending if the adapter was modified from it's original configuration. Suppressor parts have to be designed as or modified into suppressor parts. Common items that can be used to make a suppressor are not suppressors or suppressor parts unless they are assembled into one. If that was the case a lot of hardware & home improvement stores that sold fender washers, copper scrub pads, pipe/tubing, fiberglass insulation, duct tape, etc etc would be guilty of the non existent "constructive possession" charge. ATF never charges people with "constructive possession", but with possession. If you have control of all the parts needed no matter where the parts are, then you are in possession. Taking apart an NFA weapon & keeping all the parts does not turn possession into "constructive possession". "Constructive possession" would be taking one of the required parts and storing it elsewhere, yet under your control. ATF would still call it what it really is: possession. Post 1986 that is irrelevant as individual suppressor parts are treated as suppressors themselves. Due to gunshow sales of legal suppressor "kits" without tubes, Congress changed the definition of a suppressor to include any part of one. BTW, ATF has prosecuted & won a conviction of unregistered suppressors that were empty toilet paper tubes stuffed with toilet paper and attached to a firearm.

I was actually surprised they shot the first round THROUGH the oil filter instead of punching a hole first. Seems to work great.
