SBR does not need your business!

I finally decided to purchase a Saiga 12. I usually buy from SBR as they are right down the street and usually have what I want in stock. I thought their Saiga price was a little high so I called around and found a pirce $100 less. Knowing that SBR price matches I called yesterday and asked about the price match as it's hard for me to get away from work and they are close and convient. After calling yesterday and telling one of their staff members the local vendor and price they said they could match it no problem. I took off from work early today to go make the purchase. After walking in and talking to the associate at the couter and another associate walked up and began to tell me why they can't match the price (the other FFL doesnt keep 9-5 hrs m-f, ect). Turns out that they would rather me go buy from another shop. The associates were only worried about making another $100. Not only did I not buy the gun from them I also did not not buy the other $800 in other merchandise that I wanted as well. What happened to customer service and the bigger picture of how much I will spend over the corse of a year vs. on one gun.

If they truly do price match (didn't know that; will have to check with them next time I'm looking at something) and someone told you no way, I'm sure that is something Rob would want to know about.

I have never been a fan of their (lack of) customer service but they do sell me pmag rebuild kits without raping me... so whatever.

I don't think I'd ever buy anything else from them - I tried that before and was not only ignored by their staff for 30 minutes while I browsed (had to resort to using my phone to research some products as the dude behind the counter talking other other customers was so full of **** it was coming out his ears) but when I finally was being helped I was treated like an *******.

I have gone in there and it's not very friendly... Well truly most of the time guns shops are NOT friendly... I am buddies with the TDS guns guys and gals but they are pretty darn friendly.

Exactly. It needs to change. I've walked out of gun shops and away from vendors at gun shows empty handed because of attitude more times than I can count. No excuse for it.

It's also aggravating that employees expect you to buy a gun or spend a certain amount of money every time you walk in. That attitude keeps me from doing business with you for "my next gun" or doing business at all.

But the great thing about capitalism is I can take my business to their competition, and I do. Be friendly and respectful or I will take my business elsewhere.

I've been in there several times and they were really cool.
Sorry they wouldn't price match, but seems like you should take your own advice, sure you may pay 100 more than another shop on that one gun, but add up any other savings you may enjoy over the course of that year. Plus they are close and convenient right? Clean shop, well stocked? Suck it up.

That does kind of suck. My LGS gives me discounts on just about everything i buy there, and i havent really bought all that many guns from them, maybe 4 or 5. But, I do buy a lot of parts from them, and im constantly bringing new people to them and recommending them to others.

A lot of times its little things, like i went in for just a pack of shoot-n-see targets, when i went to the register the owner said "is this all today?" i said "yep", and he said "dont worry about".

they price matched big5 on a 10/22, threw in a few hundred rounds and discounted another rifle, took a fair amount off of an optic...

i know what you mean, that $100 for them probably cost a lot more.

Way to common. Only good lgs experiences I had were at bullseye ( but was raped on the price, super nice staff though) and markels.

So were you trying to get them to price match an at home FFL? How many legit gun shops with a storefront don't keep regular hours? Kinda confused by that part

Some shops have odd hours... My favorite EBR shop is closed Sun and Monday, Open Tue-Fri 1100-1800hrs and Sat 1100-1900 hrs.

A good friendly shop/ffl who won't get over on you in price is worth their weight in gold.

I discovered Alquist Arms shortly after moving to Turlock and have for the first time found a shop that I enjoy doing business with.

It's hard to find a good shop. I usually like the shop I go to, but they're very guilty of trying to sell what they have in stock, not what you need. They got extemely defensive I asked what brands of lower parts kits they carry; they said "Del-Ton" and I casually said that I don't want to use a Del-Ton LPK when the rest of my gun is going to be BCM. Boy did that open a can of worms! Apparently I'm a dumb*** and Del-Ton are the AR kings...

I was in a LGS today and a new employee walks up and says "hi, what'cha looking for?". I told him you don't have what I'm looking for and he replies with a snotty "well then you need to change what you're looking!"...I almost told him to eff off, but then the owner comes up from behind him, sticks his hand out to shake mine, while unlocking the cabinet and handing me a new Les Baer and says try this. Now that's customer service.

Gotta save my pennies for that LB...
