I was probably 6 or 7 when I shot my first .22LR. Somewhere around 12 when I shot my first centerfire rifle (30-30).

That's awesome. Unfortunately, I think for most of us the ranges and property we grew up shooting on is gone or at least we can't shoot on the land anymore.

The sacrifices our wives make to keep us happy That's quite a few rounds down range for only 5 wks. Sounds like you caught the bug..

My first time shooting was with my dads .40sw HK USP when I was 10. From there, I moved to rifles and shotguns and have been shooting regularly since then

Yeah it's sad that LA county has closed every bit of BLM land to shooting. Thank God for Kern County.

8 years old, YMCA camp, .22 rifle.

                Damn, that thing was heavy.

To this day, I'm proud of my awards and certificates I have from the early '60's

I've been shooting for 52 years

The smell of gunpowder and Hoppes still bring back those childhood memories.

It doesn't get any better than that.

Really don't remember how young. Probably 3-4 with dads help.
Got a Savage/Stevens Model 89 for my 6th birthday. Spent countless hours in camp shooting cans. Still have it. Both my kids learned to shoot with it.
Was camping on my 8th birthday when Grandpa handed me his nickel 6" python and said "take good care of it." I would sell my RAWs and my kidneys before I let that one go. It is one of the finest shooting pistols I've used, but it also has more sentimental value than anything.

                    9. It was a .22 bolt action. I wish I knew which one. I would buy one just for the memory.

I definitely understand the sentimental value.

My father inlaw has an old Remington Rand 1911 handed down to him from his Dad, when he was stationed in Pearl Harbor. He never fired the gun, so when my father inlaw got it after his Dad passed away it was in original condition. All the way down to the cardboard box, wax paper, factory greese, and everything.

I tried to talk my father inlaw out of shooting it for the first time several years ago, but he said that he hopes that it'll stay in the family and didn't care if the value of the pistol went down. It'll stay in our family and I'll be sure to pass it down to my boys. I finally talked him into buying a few newer guns, so he could keep his Dad's gun in mint condition. Also, bought him a Remington 870 for a HD gun, so if he ever has to use a gun for self defense it isn't taken away and put into evidence.

Yep, a couple of them notably as Dry Gulch and Texas Canyon.
Those were some great open areas at the time.

I started at the age of 23 with my induction into the US Army. Fell in love with it and Beretta then. God Bless!
