Sounds like you're getting your info from watching movies! These men are active duty SEALs, they're going to manipulate their firearms the same way they would in a real world situation. It becomes a nature for guys like these.Comment

When did they invent silencers?
You mean supressors...and they work nothing like they do in the movies. You still hear the shot, you just can't tell exactly where it is coming from and the volume is reduced if you use the proper subsonic ammo. Plus they change the ballistics of the round and do not do well in certain environmental conditions. So it is not like they use them for every single mission.
They actually had the sniper using a "silencer", or at least they had the rifle perform as if the imaginary device existed. So as "realistic" as the film is, it too uses many Hollywood gun myths as plot devices. The realism only goes so far. Still, it is a cool movie. Thanks for the correction in suppressors v.s silencers. As you guys, I only commented on what I know or have experienced.
Example 1 very similar to the mexican village version except for vehicle insert and not a house to house search (3 outer homes targeted to o.p P.O.O field): Central Baghdad 2005: Dropping off a team to observe a P.O.O that was tracked in our A.O. First meeting: All team members carrying with Suppressors, even one on a side arm I noticed. Night of OP. Our four trucks stripped to only three men to accommodate more team members and two open bed upper armored Humvee's carrying team members in the bed area. 3 am. Drop off, three houses secured and only two shots fired dog and hostile house member. Very soon (Seemed like seconds) all clear was heard on the radio.
Example 2: Rewind 8 or so months to N. Iraq. Kirkuk. (Diff deployment) Given the objective to cordon an area being searched and watched by air. All U.S. Army SF members observed w/ suppressed weapons. Mission, again at night.
Reasons, or my experience above is why I commented on why I found the use of none suppressed weapons a question to realistic.
Still in the end, the movie has now made my top five of all time along with RAD, Goonies, etc, etc and Act of Valor. Heard it comes out on DVD / Blue Ray June 1 or 5th, but soon, very SOOOONNNN

I agree Iraq most SpecWar where using their suppressors on every op at night and some during the day.
Some places I have been every time others sometime, and others never. Just depends on the mission and the plan. You know as well as I do plan your op and op your plan. As soon as boots are on the ground the plan goes out the window. Lmao.Last edited by Dark Sky Solutions; 05-29-2012, 11:43 PM.Comment

You would probably never see special forces shoot full auto or even 3 round bursts unless its for suppressive fire. Less accurate and wastes ammoComment

Nobody shoots FA unless you have a machine gun.
3 round burst is rarely used and normally just because you're trying to dump ammo fast and it's fun.Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.Comment
