    firearms transfer to step son

    want to give a few gun to my step son how much is that going to cost?

    Why should it cost you anything? The receiving party is generally obligated to pay for any fees associated with the transfer of a firearm.

      As of April 1, 2026 (unless this has been challenged in court) 3 firearms per 30 days.
      All 3 can go in a single DROS.

        $67.19 for three via PPT for 3 guns ( the maximum per each 30 days.)

          Did they raise the add on fee? Last time I checked it was only $10 per extra gun on a DROS.
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

              I thought the $37.19 covered one gun. See what happens when I think.

                Just to add, did you legally adopt your step-son? If so, you should be able to directly transfer to you step-son without a DROS. You would need to file one form for all the guns and pay one fee of $19. If you did not adopt your step-son, then the previous answers appear to be correct.

                Of course, always check with the current laws in effect. CA likes to continually change the laws to add confusion.

                  Legally adopted son or daughter is the same as blood children. If not adopted, then standard PPT.
