    Evidently there's another ammo shortage.

Between the materials shortage from the Ukraine/Russia war and panic buying over the US&Israeli/Iran war, evidently ammo is getting scarce and prices are going up. The powder used in artillery shells is the same stuff they use to load our small arms ammo. Powder manufacturers are diverting so much to produce artillery shells, there's little left over for our small arms ammo. Copper has also gone up dramatically since much of it comes from overseas and is affected by tariffs.

I checked around and sure enough, the most popular cartridge prices have already increased at every retailer I've checked.

I think the fuel prices only add to the cost. The ammo was made awhile back but the shipments by truck are another matter.

The Sportsmans Warehouse I go to is out of the lower end self defense hollow point stuff. Higher end jhp going for $1 a round plus is still there. It looks like there's still plenty of 115gr range stuff too. 5.56 is still there for not the best price, but not the worst either. Let's see where this goes.
For some reason though my "conspiracy theory radar" is going off and saying it's a way to drive up some profits after slumping sales throughout the gun industry

The powder for small arms is not the same as artillery shells. It might use the same ingredients but saying that is total fud

The same production lines are quickly adapted and used. Some of it is very close.

Interestingly stock OLN (Olin / Winchester) has shot up higher than its been in a while the past week. They make ammo and chemicals used in fertilizer so with shortages of both, OLN is sitting on increase in earnings.

They also have a lot less competition of companies making or exporting ammo now days than they did in the past. So many ammo manufacturers have gone out of business the past 10 years.

                    .

It’s all bull****. They have been producing the maximum of artillery shells and explosives since the Ukraine war. It is like saying be are using brass for artillery rounds so we can’t make 556. There is plenty around. It is increasing in price because of oil cost.

Not at my house. I invested when it got all cheap again. Buy when people cant get rid if it fast enough and sell when they cant get enough of it. 😎

Yup found out last Saturday buying 9mm. The week before a case was 215 bucks last week it was 275 price or 300 out the door. I was price shocked but told me some tariffs are kicking in and war stuff.

of course when I got in car I searched up another local place that sells cheap and yup they raised prices too then online seems about right.

I was in ca last week working and my brother wanted to take the crew to the range so I got the ammo and he was going to pay me back. Well we didn’t go shoot so I’m sittin on the ammo which ain’t a bad thing lol.

The only thing I'm not seeing in stores or online is 9MM 124 FMJ. Kind of makes sense since that is the NATO round. No big price increase, some stuff has gone up, but that seems to be more inline with the rise in fuel costs than anything else.

Now is doing good got another 500 rounds in my car still. I usually shoot about 7-800 rounds over the winter. Shoot 45 as well but reload that mostly been shooting 5.56 this year and frt doesn’t help save it 🤣
