I thought about doing the same thing but I'm glad I didn't, now I have trustees that I can legally leave my stuff with (like when I move back to CA temporarily) and in the event something happens to me my wife can keep/sell my stuff and not just loose it to the ATF for disposal.
I shoot a 10" 1:8 and it's still quite loud, even with the can on it. Even though a 1:8 will stabilize say a 77-80gr I don't shoot anything over 69 in it just to play it safe. You'll also loose quite a bit of velocity as well so keep that in mind with the short barrel. Also if it's an impingement gun the suppressor will add a lot of pressure to the BCG during the cycle, an adjustable piston system works great for this, but will make it a bit louder when suppressed.
I own a YHM and SureFire, I like the YHM better, sounds better IMO, and doesn't transfer as much heat to the barrel on my setups. I have a Surefire in 30 cal (rated for 300WM) I move it from my 308 to my wife's 300WSM.
