SMG's are cool and may be in the future at some point. First up would likely be a DIAS when that point comes. But, it seems everyone that has a full auto says they lose their novelty really quick. Now, I haven't fired one so I can't speak to that. I might just have to visit an Idaho MG club shoot to see for myself.

I'm poor company for misery these days.

I thought I would report back. I bought a Gemtech Outback II .22lr suppressor and a Gemtech Multi-mount 9mm suppressor today. I'll had down to the sheriff tomorrow to get fingerprinted and the papers signed.

I am still trying to decide which lowers I want to do my form 1s on. I was looking for something special considering they will be with me forever and I also want them to have the cutout for a DIAS in case I ever get lucky enough to own one. I have a Kaiser Defense and SI Defense lower that would fit the bill in both cases.

If anyone has any ideas on which lowers to use for SBR I am always open.

Always wanted a suppressed 22lr. Maybe build a full auto ar-22 and use the suppressor on it. Have fun and post pics when you can.

POF makes a nice lower. There's also a couple companies producing a 100% CNC lower that look and feel amazing. Just make sure which ever lower you use it has a true level 3 hard coat, you'll thank yourself later.

Seeing how I own SBR's and MG's and Suppressors, I enjoy my long range shooting precision guns with a can on them more than anything. Seeing how Texas just passed the law stating that we can use our suppressors for big game hunting, it's nice to actually be able to "use" the fun toys for a purpose rather than dinging steel at the range. I'm not a big fan of my SBR's. I'm too much of an accuracy nut for the short barrels. If you are going to put a can on any of your 223s with a SBR, make sure you have enough twist in the barrel not to cause a baffle strike, thats a very bad day when that happens.

Neither. I just went individual. No one gets to play with my toys without me and I won't have any issues getting the Cleo to sign off on it.

I know gem tech will not warranty their supressors if the barrel is shorter than 10" so that will be my target. I wanted 7.5, but I hear those are really loud with large flash when fired unsuppressed.
Next up will be a suppressor for 223 or 762.

Well I have been trying to decide which lower to put on my form 1 for the ATF. I really like the look of billet, and would love to do a POF, but they are hard to find in black. I can find them in NP3, but I want black. The other requirement is the shelf for a DIAS should I ever get lucky enough to afford one.

I think I am going to go with a couple spikes lowers. Why? First, they have SBR in the serial number. That is some cool factor. I've also never heard anyone say anything bad about spikes lowers. They are available locally and in stock which means I can submit all my paperwork tomorrow if the cleo signs. Lastly, of all the lowers I have, not one is a spikes lower so the lowers will be different than the ones I have now.

Of course, I could change my mind 15 more times.

I am coming to the conclusion that if I lived in a free state, I would buy a slide fire stock over a MG. Sure, a MG is a better investment but with ammo costs what they are, I couldn't afford to shoot FA very often and if you are only going to occasionally shoot FA, a slide fire or Bumpski would be such a better value.

But I don't live in a free state so it doesn't really matter.

Aftering pondering most of the night and this morning and while driving to buy a couple more lowers I stopped and turned around. There was no point in adding more lowers that were not different than what I have. So, I completed the forms using 2 Kaiser Defense lowers that I purchased a while back. I would have actually used my SI defense lowers, but they don't have a model number for some reason and I didn't want there to be any reason for the ATF to reject them. There is probably some workaround, but the Kaiser lowers are nice and will fit the bill.

Got the paperwork filled out and went down to the Sheriff station. The best part about living in the free world is not the stuff you get to buy. It's the fact that you are not made to feel like a criminal. The sheriff has a dedicated desk out front for CCW and fingerprints. It is very fast and efficient and usually has a couple people in line. Just regular folks, getting their CCW.

Anyway, they reprinted the fingerprints I had done last week on the FBI cards and gave them back to me. I will go in tomorrow to pick up my ATF forms and off they will go.

For my 9mm build, this is what I am going for. It will use a 5" barrel and the suppressor adds about 7" on top of that. I'll go with a 9-10" free float forearm to cover most of the suppressor. That is going to be seriously fun to shoot.

Starve the beast, move to a free state.
