After observing much of what is here, and that one of his buds successfully found a nice traditional minded lady off shore, the prospect shouldn’t be dismissed. Might open up a whole new avenue for travel adventure. As to suppressors, what really needs to be silenced is the whiny, entitled liberal women who have basically ruined the dating works here in America for many respectful young males.

100% in agreement. I'm not young but I have pretty much sworn off of American women after divorcing. I have lots of women friends, work colleagues and I hear what is discussed behind the scenes so to speak, and relationship-wise, I want nothing to do with any women I run into in daily life. No dating, no hookups, no relationships, they are just an unappealing mess, like they have been mass brainwashed. Because they have. I really feel for young men who should be getting married and having families. It's why our birthrate here is unsustainable and why Muslims will take over the the world by simple population increase. Almost makes one think it's all engineered as part of a grand plot.
But we digress. As far as silencers, we will never get them in Commifornia so this discussion is mainly relevant to Calgunners who have moved to America.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Yeah, gun shows will likely have the widest selection to choose from. At the last Fort Worth show, there were tables FULL of suppressors. That's where I saw a few vendors advertising they will pay the tax stamp for you.
Here's our biggest LGS near us.
Gun Shop & Shooting Range in DFW | Experience Shooting
They have an OK selection on suppressors. Of course everything else is stocked full.
Here's their 3D virtual tour page -

Thanks to this BS shutdown my project is on hold until the government opens and I get my back pay.
Glock 43 bought cheap at a pawn shop. Some NZD gold pins and extended controls with a PSA micro dagger threaded barrel. Even with LEO exemptions I couldn't get something like this in CA. Still need better sights and a suppressor.

I'm not a huge fan of gold on firearms, but the accents on that one are pretty cool. Nice find. Yeah, the pawn shops around here have some pretty good deals I've seen. Thanks to this BS shutdown my project is on hold until the government opens and I get my back pay.

Going to pick up a factory threaded bbl for my Sig 228 next week at one of our LGS. Then gotta decide which suppressor for it. I'm still waiting for my official TX driver license to arrive in the mail (4 to 6 weeks 😕) before I can buy NFA stuff. So I guess it will give me some more time to save a bit more for one.Last edited by GOEX FFF; 10-02-2025, 4:36 PM.Comment

ATF isn't processing paperwork during the shutdown so you got plenty of time.

Figures. I did find a few ranges here that sell suppressors. They will hold it for you and you can use it at their range while the approval is pending. After completion, you can then take it home. Thought that was pretty cool.👍 1Comment

I haven't found a range that will do that, but I did find a dealer that will do that. Bad part is that he's over by Tulsa, about an hour and a half away. It might still be an option to make sure I get some without having to fight the rush.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Yeah, it may be worth it. It will be nice not having to pay the tax stamp come next year, but I too think there will be a rush (and approval times may take a lot longer if they're bogged down). Hopefully manufactures will ramp up production before that, but you never know I guess.
On a side note, went to a new (to me) LGS this past weekend in the DFW area. They had a decent selection.
