Border Patrol Checkpoints

Coming back from shooting in Jamul BLM or South Bay Rod and Gun Club you have to go through the Border Patrol checkpoint on Campo Rd. If the agent asks you what you were doing down there, what do you say? Not much to do down there except hiking, shooting or coming from Mexico. I'd hate to go through secondary inspection and have to explain all the guns and ammo in the trunk.

You could always tell them you were burying bodies, I'm sure it would be easier than telling the truth

Told them I had an undocumented Australian and German in the back of the car...

I head down there all the time, I just say I was out shooting on BLM. They always ask if I had fun and send me on my way.

I was out there yesterday as a matter of fact and had zero issues. I shoot out there once or twice a month

I always tell them South Bay Rod and Gun Club. Never had a problem. They know its there. I figure I have more of a chance of getting searched if I tell them I am coming from Tecate.

Once they see the military decal on the window they don't ask too much. One time though at that particular check point I was coming back with a bunch of campaign signs for a guy who's running for congress and they gave me a hard time. He kept asking me what I had, when the signs completely filled my truck bed. I think he was just an idiot and didn't like seeing 3 younger guys driving in a nice Ford diesel.

Been thre that checkpoint a lot of times after shooting, when they ask we tell them we were shooting and they send us on our way.

Not to jack this thread but those 'check points' are

unconstitutional, as shown by several U-tubes with guys doing the "Am I under arrest or am I free to leave" with answering any questions or even rolling down their window.

Hint: Several miles inside the USA is wrong place to be enforcing the border.

Those "Checkpoints" deep inside USA are just another example of how our Govt uses Creative Mismanagement to continue defacto Open Border policy to undermine the USA.

Obviously, they don't work, and they are only illegal detention of American citizens. Perfect.

Well this particular check point inst very far from the border and I'd say it's a pretty valid one, along with the one on the 8. There are a lot of dirt roads and trails to advert them from the check points though...

Once across the border, no reason why an illegal can't 'face down' Border Patrol

just like our American U-tubers, legally speaking, or BP risks civil rights lawsuit and they know it.

And I'm sure some "immigrants rights" group would be happy to supply a few test case subject to dress "mexican" and refuse to answer in English, or fein "broken English" and generally act like guilty illegals but keep asking "I'am I free to leave".

I kinda got lost there. Are you saying that we should have some sort of effort searching for illegals deeper in to the country or are you not saying that?
