    Shops no longer with us

I've been busy cleaning, purging and packing for our move to OK and found an old binder with business cards of my old customers. 35 years ago or so I worked for a large outdoor sporting goods wholesaler and covered a bunch of tackle and gun stores in LA, Orange and San Bernardino counties. I won't go into all the tackle stores that are gone.

Here's a list of the gun stores, let's see who's as old as I am and remembers these store.

    Brea Gun Store
    Diamond Bar Guns & Security
    Colorado Arms
Slim's Gun Shop - La Puente
    H & S Shooting Supplies
    Pomona Gun Store
    Southwest Automotive Supply
    Azusa Gun Shop
    Jim's Guns and Gold
    Warner's Gun Shop
    Old West Guns
    Buckhorn Guns
    The Gunsight
    J & S Gun Shop
    Bain and Davis
    Chino Gun Shop
    Mt60 Rod & Gun
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I'll add another, MTG firearms that used to be in Elk Grove. Bob is a good guy. During Freedom Week he pulled all the firearms he had on display and kept the shop open as long as it took to sell the standard mags.

They weren't one of my customers, but they were only a few miles from the warehouse. I would swing by there from time to time when I went to the warehouse. They were always really nice to their customers when I was in there.

I just remembered another, TDS in the Sacramento area. I chuckle now when I wore one of their shirts while grocery shopping. On it there was 'your friendly local gun store'. A store employee asked how can they be friendly? I replied they should be if they deal with the public, like you.

Yeah, B&B sales was huge in the valley. Just on Parthenia st alone there was 4 or 5 gun shops, and a shoothing range.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?

Think of all the gun shows no longer with us.

The Pomona Great Western Gun Show was truly an event to behold pre year 2000. Forget the beef jerky and other nonsense: that show was like one giant gun store.

The Glendale was always a nice central Los Angeles County show that while small, brought in a lot of quality vendors with actual guns and gun parts.

Those were the days, for sure. No waiting periods for any long gun purchases. No waiting on private party sales, including handguns.
The Great Western Show was more than a gun show....it was an event like no other!
