There is Used market... and then there is the very limited never sold in CA market.... Everyone is broke.... I think Gen 2 are rock solid as are gen 3....

Unless you are a department, no need to upgrade to Gen 4 or 5 for a common size gun.... Glock 42/43 is a different animal
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

2011's were never as popular as the Internet likes to think they are. They are a competition gun built for a small percentage of the firearms market. Companies try to dress up 2011's as a tactical duty/ccw mass production firearms, but under all the tactical lipstick it's a competition gun that the majority of people are not interested in and the competitive shooters that do want a 2011 are not buying the "entry level" ones flooding the market.

I volunteer at a gun shop and last 6 months the gun sales are closer to 2018-2019 sale numbers. The pandemic caused a lot of new first time buyers into the market that didn’t know about guns and pricing. Than other people saw empty gun shelves and brought at any price.

Without a fear of gun regulations increase; Trump in office there is most likely Not going panic buying so prices are going be lower than several years ago

320 X 5 Legion is the closest thing to a rostered 2011. Not sayings its close to one, but many think its close enough.

IMHO, the DOJ letting the microstamping requirement drop off (by failing to appeal the legal win against that single requirement to be on roster), it opened up the opprtunity for many "modern" current production guns to enter the market to meet the "utility" need for firearms.... but at the same time curbed the secondhand and off-roster markets through the availability of those "new" guns that were previously barred from the market b/c of microstamping requirements.

While the long running pangs of CGN may account for SOME softness (due to lack of a venue to buy/sell/trade), the "no L" site provided some access to a viable market, and there was softness in pricing evident there as well. Sales do happen, when the price is right or the firearm in question is sufficiently "valuable" to a buyer at a price a seller is willing to agree upon.

The average Joe who simply wants a "utility" firearm for HD/SD/etc. won't necessarily seek out a non-retail option for many reasons, but conversely, many who may balk at the 11% sin tax would do better on the secondhand market and maybe even learn to enjoy "sticking it to da man" by depriving our overlords of continuing revenue... When the government has their mitts all over what should be a free market through various legislative action, things are and will remain somewhat unpredictable!

did the the used market soften? Or is it due to the site being down for so long?

Speak for yourself kimosabe. I have one in my nightstand, I carry one every day, and I train with them with a 'gun club'.

Outside of California it is a different ball game. Maybe you're projecting?

Yes, during the height of the scamdemic, Gen 3s were selling as high as $1000.

Yowzer, I have trouble paying $500.00 for a Glock, couldn't imagine paying double that

New SIG on roster P365 and P320 variants and S&W M&P variants are pretty compelling compared to used and heavily marked up G4 and G5 Glocks. Nothing against the Glocks but there are just way more options on the roster now than 2-3 years ago plus no C19 cookooness either.

A couple of years ago, the market for used guns (and ammo) was HOT! Now it's a great deal softer... That's the free market for you...

Inflation is crushing people's bank accounts. We also have a gun friendly President now. Both contribute to a softening market as much as the roster opening to new guns after dumping microstamping.
