Firearms are still pretty cheap. Back in the late 90s, an AR was well over a grand. Glocks were around 350 if I recall correctly. Compare to other things, prices of ammo has gone up more than firearms.
Most gun stores get plenty of businesses these days from new gun shoppers, especially in the city. With the tax increases, more people are buying this month. When rosters open up more that will drive more sales too. I have seen LGS going under because of retirement and sloppy paperwork, not due to economics itself.
