    1. Compared to what?
    2. At what cost?
    3. What hard evidence do you have?

Who would have accepted $5 a galon gas when it was $2? People will get use to it and the old folks that remember "the good old days" will just complain.

Gasoline is much more of an actual necessity for a much greater segment of the population than are firearms of any kind, so that reasoning IMO does not compare. Firearms beyond what is actually needed are in actuality simple toys for the vast majority of gun owners. The added 11% tax, on top of everything else will push many away. I base that statement on conversations my son has had in the past month with the customers in the LGS he manages. And the majority of his customers are folks with extra disposable income in an affluent area.

Buying a firearm in ca is a Chet show ~ the antis know that and will not be happy until they destroy every gun store in ca.

I'm going to my LGS on Wednesday in the hopes they have something that grabs my eye. If not, I'll be withholding the purchase of any more firearms until I exit the state.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

the only store I enjoy going to now is LC action, they sell off rosters to roster exempt peoples so their inventory actually changes and there is alwase something new or interesting. all other store seem to have the same inventory of handguns under the glass with little variation in the rifles on the wall. the only thing that is really different is the attitudes of the employees. for the most part though when you have seen one CA gun store you have seen them all.

I am a reloader but I was thinking about some factory ammo before that 11% nonsense kicks in.

There's only one word for the future of California gun stores: bleak.

Besides the 11% excise tax, another factor causing dealers to close down will be the Cali DOJ mandated surveillance system. Though probably not considered an LGS, Big 5 stores in California have stopped selling firearms. They do still sell ammo.

Well, the 11% doesn't bother me because I'm quitting buying guns...just not worth it anymore. I now only go to the gun stores because I have sold another firearm and gotta do the transfer and collect my money. I now rather use the money to take the family out on a trip, dinner, buy a new boat, truck, motorcycle...start a new non gun related hobby...guns are a dead end.

Just another price to pay to own guns in a state where I can surf and ski in the same day. Save your receipts, I'll bet this gets struck down sometime in the next few months and we can claim the tax paid on our returns next year. Yada yada I know it's the principle, but I refuse to believe this doom and gloom scenario everyone is painting.
