    When did Calguns become ARFCOM?

One of the reasons I've been a member of Calguns since it first started is the fact I believe that it is a good website. It allows us CA people to have a website to meet and converse about firearm issues uniquely relevant to those of us in CA.

And at the same time not have to deal with the constant crap we get from other boards telling us we Californians are worthless, spineless tree hugging antis. And how we should leave our family, friends and jobs just so we can move to some trailer park in Butthole Arizona. Then we could own a "real" AK or AR.

Another benefit I found in Calguns is we had a very minimal "your kungfu not as good as my kungfu" mentality. You guys know what I mean. Someone posts he's thinking about a M14 and then 50 people get on his case about how an M14 is only full auto (which is not true) and he's going to get his anus enlarged in jail by Bubba and how he should forget the M-14 and get a 16 barreled vulcan gun.

Or someone posts he's selling a 10/22 for so and so price and then half the people who post lowball the seller into trying to sell the rifle for $25 buck and how anything over $26 is way over market value....blah blah blah.

So to my point, when did these 50 something people move over from ARFCOM over to Calguns?

Anyone notice too? Or am I being too sensitive?

I agree 100%. this place used not to be the lord of the flies.

the lower madness has done this to us IMHO.

ETA: I apologize if anybody here thinks I have contributed to the arfcommification of calguns.

50, I really dont see this happening. Remember, we here in Kali are still very restricted in what we can get our hands on. So I guess the only part of your post/complaint that I agree with is many of the responses on the For Sale forum.

FYI- I do not care for the elitest/better-than-thou attitude, so if you see any of that in the "Gun rights, legal, politics" or the "Off-Topic Discussion Lounge" forums, let me know.

+1 To many here have forgotten what our mothers have told us.

If you have a problem with someones post, PM them or e-mail them. Remember, there are no stupid questions. We all had to ask stupid questions at one point so go easy on the new guy. If you disagree with someone, you can let it be known just be nice about it.

I agree. While AR15.com is a terrific source of information and populated by many knowledgeable types it is often awash in vulgar language and nasty personal attacks.

It has been nice that these boards are relatively civil. Now, I see nothing wrong with a spirited and lively debate on an issue. Afterall, that is what America is all about. However, when threads degenerate into name calling, personal insults, and ad hominem attacks things get really old really fast.

What's chapped my hide on these boards is some of the behavior in the for sale forum (and I posted there about that). It's really annoying to see people complaining/making nasty comments about pricing. As was said above...if you have nothing nice to say then move along. Some in the for sale posting think they're being cute or make little veiled silly remarks that at their core are nasty comments.

Now, I've been tempted when a price is fracking outrageous to say something...many of us probably are...but part of being an adult is being able to comport yourself in a courteous and responsible manner.

If you absolutely have to address a pricing issue with someone then the appropriate avenue for doing so is via PM. I personally have no issue with someone PMing me if they don't like my ads.

I understand that these are trying times to be a Cali gun owner. And, I understand that many of us have been rather stressed at times over the past few months. It's been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster...coupled with a real lack of solid information...and that can fry even the most resiliant nerves. However, there was a time (it's getting better now) a month or two back when noobies would ask a question and be drawn and quartered by screaming banshees. And that was pretty shameful. There are courteous and vulgar ways to get one's point across. The latter is preferable.

                  I am a Calguns.net since version 1.0 member and personally feel I harbor a non-elitist attitude.

If someone took issue with this thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=29158

The original post before it was edited was filled with emoticons implying that the items for sale were not as described. I called possible shenagins, and the poster, denied and ultimately back-pedaled instead of answering my questions.

Do a search of all my posts and then search under "ENDINGS1@AOL.COM"(what my original name got changed to after the board migration), I think you'll find IMO my posts-the original spirit and intent of this board, to legally enjoy firearms in CA.

I think if someone is allowed to incorrectly state what's legal and not legal, then it will erode the integrity of this board. We should help the un-informed be informed. How far do you think you'll go in buying a firearm legally if you don't bother to read or answer the questions properly on the 4473 or D.R.O.S.?

When it comes to gun laws we can't afford to let our guard down, there's too much at stake. I treat gun laws like I treat gun safety, you could die or go to jail, neither one is good.

And, I do apologize if I offended anyone.

                  Peace.

I really dont think it's turning into ARFCOM at all. Just seems like that maybe b/c of the increased site traffic. Until I see responses like "STFU asshat" or something similar it's good to have discussion.

If someone never ventured into the General Discussion forum at Arfcom, they'd have no clue what you're talking about. All the specialty forums are quite good and informative and pretty much lacking the stuff you're referring to.

And, I do apologize if I offended anyone.
No apologies needed here. I for one understand your concern for protecting "nubies" or people not more familiar with the confusing gun laws in CA. I for one appreciate it and only suggest that is kept to PMs and/or e-mail to the Moderators if the offending post is still unchanged.

I think that if someone posts something offensive and we all start chiming in (and I'm guilty of that myself) that the post will draw even more unwanted attention and can lead to bigger issues later down the line.

                        But what do I know.

Sides, I bet with all the new members that boards has gotten in the last few months due to lower madness. There will be a brief time to aclimate themselves to the more "civilized atmosphere of Calguns.

I hereby propose more picture of chicks with guns to liven up the board.

                          +1!

I hearby decree that any post mentioning a female with a gun must also include pictures of said female and gun.

                          EDIT: hehe, cant spell.

Ah, I see how you are, you want calguns to turn into the FALfiles.

The only thing about calguns that I've noticed is all the people who only just learned yesterday that we HAVE an assault weapon ban are already giving legal advice today!
