Rock Island 1911CS.
Out of the box it wouldn't go into battery every 20 or 30 rounds. Sent it back, came back fixed. OK, fine.
500 rounds later the VIS, recoil spring guide, back side of the dust cover and several other surfaces look like someone took a ball peen hammer to them.
Does it function? Flawlessly. Is it going to keep doing so? No idea. It's a nice looking pistol, and if it didn't shoot I'd have no problem calling it a loss and tossing it into the Bay. Accurate little thing too, even with the crappy USGI sights. For what it is, it's not worth throwing another $80 at it to ship it back to NV for more "work".
On the Glock front, I recently became a new Glock owner (30SF). I must say, I like it (and I was rabidly anti-plastic pistol for many, many years) and it just does the job.
I'm generally not a raving fanboy when it comes to pistols, except where the Hi Power and 1911 are concerned. After all JMB was a genius and should be accorded his proper place in the pantheon of firearms greats. It's just a shame his design has been bastardized and doesn't translate well into the compact form factor. :/Comment

Remington's 887 is said to be junk, but its ugliness seems to be doing
most of the purchase prevention. If a cheap car's cheap factory paint can sit out in weather for 20 years, what is the problem with a gun's FINISH being out for a couple days in weather between cleaning/oiling?
Marlin 1894 are now low quality fit and finish, even if working ok.Comment

i'll say this in all seriousness. stay away from the generation 4 glock 19. Glock *STILL* hasn't sorted it out yet, and this is after the factory has released three different recoil springs, two different extractors, etc. extraction continues to be erratic, including a tendency to send hot brass directly back in your face.
before the onslaught of posts -- I'm not saying glock pistols are bad. in fact they are great. I'm just saying that one specific pistol, the generation 4 glock 19 has not been sorted out yet by the factory. avoid paying extra SSE fees for a gen 4 that doesn't work -- stick with a gen 3 glock 19 instead.Comment

Umarex Colt M4. Biggest POS and one and only impulse buy...for firearms
. I had to send the damn thing in twice, tried different mags, ammo, kept lube nice and slim then just gobbed it on. Did a full takedown and smothered it in lube. Worst damn long gun I've ever owned.

I have a couple RG .22lr and .22 short revolvers that start falling apart every 50-100 rounds.Other then those super cheap little .22 and .25 cal handguns that cost $50-$60 I don't think your going to find too many "this gun is a lemon" folks.. Heck there are even die hard Hi-Point lovers and that is about as cheap as you can make and sell a gun. I've even like them other then the take down.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

I will probably get flamed for this, but Glock has my vote.
I never owned one but I have rented several for test drives thinking maybe my experience will be better, but it never seems to win me over.
It is just a pain in the assss to shoot. I have to adjust my grip after every shot, aqward grip position and is just plain ugly in my opinion.
As far as it being junk, I have no idea since I have never owned one. But from what I read and hear, they are VERY reliable
The only thing I find good about it, is after I shoot it, it makes me love my M&P even more.Last edited by gl0ckc0ma; 05-03-2012, 8:32 PM.Comment

New gen 3 19 and 17 also have erratic ejections. I shot them many times.i'll say this in all seriousness. stay away from the generation 4 glock 19.
