It wouldn't even be legal federally unless you SBR'd it(or the kit comes with a 16" barrel).

It would be legal if it: had a 16" or longer barrel, was over 30" overall length, had a fixed magazine, and you never un-converted it from "rifle" status back to pistol status.

It's possible to get one and use it, but many of the selling points and features it has would be negated by CA and federal law compliance.

Unless you file a form with the ATF and pay a tax stamp (converting it to a SBR). You may not convert it back from SBR to pistol IIRC.

There was talk about this not too long ago...something to the effect of "Free rent for 5+ years..."

EDIT: Found the link to the other recent thread:

Yeah, considering the cost and lack of functionality, you might as well just get a sub 2000 or hipoint carbine(or something else).

Yeah the Roni Kit won't fly here in Kalifornistan. Saw them for sale in Thailand at different gun stores. People love them.

They were even selling them on the sidewalks in Bangkok. No laws against them. No problem for SBR, vertical grips, magazines. Anything you want.

Don't forget if you install it...
... to make sure the OAL is 30" or greater
... it has a maglock and 10 round magazine.
Otherwise it would be an "assault weapon".

This link -- http://www.tactical-life.com/online/...onversion-kit/ -- says "Max Length (in.): 21.75″" so it looks like it's too short for CA.

Well, THAT one is - it doesn't have the 16" extended barrel; don't see any links that give the OAL for the one with the extended barrel, just suggestions that that version would be legal.

                      Interesting thread…

Here’s what I’d like to know...Hypothetically, I set up a trust and legally converted my Glock to a SBR after I pay for the NFA tax stamp ($200), add a bullet button, keep the mags to 10 rounds, and keep the Glock permanently inside the Roni, would the Roni Glock carbine be legal?

What about the CA AW laws?

If this is done in CA...
BATFE will not approve your Form 1, unless you have a valid CA DOJ Dangerous Weapons Permit for a SBR.

CA DOJ will not issue you a Dangerous Weapons Permit for a SBR, unless you are obtaining it for use as a prop in the movie/tv industry or for making/selling/loaning to a Gov/Mil/LE agency.

Since you can not legally obtain a SBR, CA's AW laws are moot.

                        In CA...
NFA trust is used to obtain AOWs.
Because you will need a Dangerous Weapons Permit for DD, MG, SBR & SBS and a Dangerous Weapons Permit is near impossible to obtain.

Move to Oregon or Arizona. Its too hard to have anything cool in Kaliforniastan.

Or that the OAL is 30" or greater and you've eliminated all "evil features" (collapsible stock, pistol grip, no flash hider), no magazine lock required in that "featureless" configuration.

I was going to dispose of my extra Glock frame, but think I might keep it now. Bet Solar Tactical can make a wrap for it and I'm pretty sure I can pin the stock. Edit - just noticed that it's G19-specific. There goes that idea as my spare frame is full size.

I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
