I watched that documentary. All the Model 700's they mentioned were all older models...

CNBC had to air a retraction to their story.... Seems as if there were some MAJOR inaccuracies in their reporting, as well as morally questionable tactics in gaining interviews, and presenting outright FALSE INFORMATION .

      Check out the retraction:

Both videos are propaganda. The CNBC video claiming that all 700's are unsafe then the Remington video starts out with saying how awesome the rifle is and how it saved so many marines lives. Both videos are playing on emotions.

Most in the gun community hate the video, cause it sheds a bad light on one of the cornerstone American gun manufacturers. Personally I dont care what the company is, if they are putting out a defective product it should be called out.
Most in the gun community hate the video because it leaves out a lot of the facts making remington look bad

Now that is a good video. Amazing what you learn when all the facts are presented

True... that is a very good point.

I still can't see how a rifle with such a strong reputation for proven reliablity/accuracy could have gained that notariaty (well deserved IMHO) while having a serious safety concern "hiding in it's closet".

On a side note, I own a Remington 700 (LTR Model .308) and still regard it as one of my most reliable shooters.... period. (next to the SKS of course)
