The funny thing is I have been back to that Wal-mart in Cerritos a couple of times. Two times the sign was gone and nobody asked for my ID when I bought ammo and another time it was back up and nobody aked for my ID. That sign is also not up in all the stores that sell ammo. I am still waiting for a reply from Wal-mart for a complaint I registered and still waitng for a return call and email reply from the CRPA which I belong to over this situation.

Notice how Walmart doesn't sell guns in CA anymore, over 400 violations. They probably send out notices about selling ammo and some of can easily be misconstrued (don't ask a wally employee what that means) by many of the walmart employees.
Also, there are several municipalities in CA that require the ID and thumbprint.
Gun control is a 1" group at 500 yds!

Thats extremely odd. The one off Moreno Beach is usually pretty good and keeping within the law.

River City Gun Exchange is doing what is required of them by the City of Sacramento regulations on ammunition sales, which is why I never go there, even though they may have the best prices. I would rather buy at gun shows or off the Internet.

Same here at the Ventura Walmart. No problems (the very few times I bought ammo there.)

Sweet ! So just because they follow the rules, you refuse to shop there? Pretty dumb but whatever man.

Hmm... was the walmart employee an older guy (maybe in his 50's) who wears glasses? I saw this happen to someone else who showed an Oregon DL. Before he even rang up the purchase, he was talking to another employee and telling her how he was in a "grumpy" mood cause he was sick.

This is pretty simple. The ID requirement comes up on the register, you need to be over 21 for handgun ammo. The CA ID requirement is probably a store policy because they are not trained to recognize any other ID. I'm an old guy, so I get to skip this step.

Yea sounds like him. Gray hair, glasses. Think his name was Bill. He was super nice and helpful but unfortunately miss informed.

That is not the case at all.
My brother is over 21. He specifically used the words "Residency Check" when asking for ID. He didn't say age verification.

The guy didn't even look at the age. He just saw that he was out of state. When I questioned him he said it was a state law that pertained to ammo purchases. Stating nothing about Walmart ID checking or ammo policy's.
