    Rangefinders on a budget

Wondering what you guys recommend for a range finder? I just know of Bushnell's offerings but if you like any other ones, chime in! I found a thread on Calguns via google but I think the recommendations were too expensive. I'd like to get one for shooting out in the desert since I'm not a good guesstimator. I would like to spend no more than, say, $400? Amazon's pricing is pretty darn good. I think I like this Bushnell:
    Bushnell Sport 850

It's just under $200. I don't have much experience shooting at 100 yards so that will be my main distance for a while then gradually go up towards 600 yards, I hope. I want it to be accurate but if it's off by a yard, I think that's okay. I don't know if golf range finders are cheaper but would that be okay or am I making sure to find one specifically for rifle shooting?

I have a Redfield Raider 550 in camo. Got it for $174. Fits in the palm of my hand, easy to use. I've used it out to 450 yds so far.

        Bushnell.

Really, I never shoot more than 600 yards.

I bought a Nife rangefinder and it's ranging agreed very well with the distance of the 500 and 600 yard lines at the range.

It's larger than what you're looking at but no batteries to die, longer max range and it can range some things that a laser can't pick up.

I also bought a bigger one made by Wild I think but I haven't tried to figure it out yet. I think it will range to 10,000 meters so I'll be ready when I get that howitzer I've always wanted.

Which one do you have? The ones sized like the one I originally posted are a nice size but I wouldn't mind bigger. Should fit in my range bag.
