    2,474th

So today i got a new 870 Express Tactical. And while doing my paperwork, found out i was the 2,474th person to buy a weapon today in California. I'm not so sure whether or not that's a good thing. I mean it's great that more people are purchasing weapons. What do you guys think?

Really? You want your cake and eat it too? Given the population of CA that is small percentage and most transactions will take place on weekend. But why are you concerned as to who? Do you think that CA DOJ and NCIC checks are insufficient. There were probably another 2474 illegal and unregistered purchases today as well. Those are the ones I would be concerned about.

If the people who are purchasing like you did i suspect they are law abiding people.
        Is this a trick question??

And to address the OP.. it's a GOOD thing.. the only better thing would be if the number was tripple.

The more law abiding people the own guns the more people will be concerned with the right to own them and will notice if those rights are stomped on.

So gun registration is a good thing? Many states have face to face transactions without any gun store intervention at all. No registration, no background check. Yet blood doesn't run in the streets.

Let's be clear. I think it is a great thing. OP was "concerned". I am not in favor of registration. I don't mind background checks even for PPT do that felons are excluded.

What's the big deal with registration. I register my car, dog, water craft, register for classes, register to vote, register for the draft, sign the registry at a wedding etc etc.

Let me guess, when they're registered, it's easier for them to be taken??

Now does that mean you bought the 2474th firearm or you were the 2474th person to DROS a firearm? I'm sure there are a few more than 2474 firearms bought in CA. Last month, a co worker of mine purchased 10 AR lowers on a single DROS.

Like others have said, great news, I do wish the number was a lot higher.

Pretty much. The thought is that IF one day the gubbament decides to round up all the guns all they have to do is look at the list and see who has em.

                      Knock knock..
                      Yes..
We have a list that says you own xx guns and we want them now..

Go research "Katrina gun confiscation" and you'll wish you had 0 guns registered.

Is that 2474th just for today, this week, this month, or this year? This is a honest question I have never looked at the DROS when got my guns.
