CCW: What else do you carry?

    Calgunners:

    My question for CCW holders:

    1) Do you carry a extra magazine of ammunition? If so, how? (I/OWB?)

    2) Any flashlight users/carriers? (handheld or weapon mount)

    3) Anything else? Knife, Pepper Spray, Rocket Propelled Grenade?

After getting my CCW Permit, I am planning on carrying a Glock 32 with standard CA 10 round magazine, a Surefire E1-B Backup, and a small pocket knife. My phone is glued to me already, so I guess I will be carrying that as well.

    Any other thoughts/recommendations?

LTC section might amass you better responses but:
    1) Yes to extra mag (helps that my G22 Mags will fit the G27) but only if I can conceal it (coat, long shirt, etc). It’s weak side, OWB.
    2)I don’t normally carry a flashlight
3)I always carry a knife, and I will gladly carry an RPG if you can point me to someone that can supply me with one...

I've carried for quite some time and will admit that I rarely carry an extra magazine. With one in the pipe, 11 rounds of +P .45 or 9 mm should be plenty.

On very warm days, I'll sometimes toss my 5 shot revolver in a pocket. With this, I'll often carry a speed loader. On the rare occasion I carry a spare mag, I usually carry it OWB on my right side on my belt (I'm a lefty). If my pants are loose enough, I prefer to carry it IWB as it conceals better.

If I remember, I normally carry a pocket knife too, but not for protection. Its just for opening packages, cutting things, etc. I tend to lose them once or twice a year, so I normally buy inexpensive (-$35) Gerber's or some such thing from Big-5 or Bass Pro.

When I go jogging, I always carry pepper spray. Its come in handy twice with stray dogs. I'd really prefer not to shoot a dog and so far pepper spray has worked just fine. Its also a good, less than lethal alternative that is handy to have. I rarely carry it other than when jogging, but probably should.

Not saying my habits are ideal or even well thought out. It's just what I'm used to.

One thing I've gotten in to quite a bit lately is formal training. I attended a two day hand gun class and am about to take a two day carbine class. I also practice at least 2-3 times a month. Skills are perishable and muscle memory takes quite awhile to build. if you've not had any training or if it's been awhile, its worth considering IMHO.

        Hope this helps.

          Every day I carry:

Bersa .380 (8 rounds) no extra mag
1 small pocket knife (old timer)
          1 3" folder knife w/ pocket clip
small LED flashlight (2 AA batt)

Sometimes a Springfield Sub-compact .40 in place of the .380, but it's heavier.
Knives seem to get lost easily, so I don't carry expensive ones.

I carry a naked picture of myself. It's better to have it and not need it...

I always carry a spare magazine for the simple reason that magazines are mechanical devices and subject to failure. Sometimes I carry one, more commonly two.

I only carry a small flashlight if I am out after dark, and I carry a Swiss Army Knife but then I did that before having a carry permit.

I carry the XD9SC, no extra mags. 13 rounds ought to do, but ya never know. When I feel saucy, I go for the 1911.

Don't have a CCW permit but this is in my pocket everyday:

Too lazy to check CA's knife carry laws so I don't know if my Kershaw would be okay.

Javi is that the preon2? That's what I carry everyday. To work and off duty.

Two spare 7 round mags on weak side... helps offset the 1911 on the strong side. Surefire flashlight at dusk & beyond. Pocket Knife & LTC wallet.
p.s. LTC wallet is carried in front breast pocket; don't have to reach around gun to get it and hands are visable at all times. Don't want the "good" guys getting uptight.
