are they 3 piece steel mouth poly body and brass bead i dont see how they are that much cheaper to produce

I'm glad to see that modern technology has finally caught up to 1853 .
I have a .50 cal. Smith carbine that uses gutta percha {plastic} cases and they are re-loadable.
These plastic cases were also used for the Gatling gun.

There are many benefits to a polymer case as opposed to traditional brass case ammunition:

Increased accuracy
Reduces weight
Reduces weapon wear
Cheaper to produce

You missed the part about the case transferring 50% less heat to the chamber. We were shooting the 5.56x45mm rifles and catching the case as it was ejected...no problem with heat.

It is going to be a rifle round as only a government contract would make starting production cost effective. Handgun ammo isn't even being considered, due to the reduced case support in pistol chambers.

Talking to the development engineer was very interesting...especially the self-centering bullet properties of the polymer case that increases accuracy
