San diego grossmont center walmart manager told me they will start selling ammo within the next few weeks after all the employee background checks come back in order to determine who is allowed to access the ammo cabnet. My guess is that any of the other walmarts that are currently on a hold from selling ammo is for the same reason. About 2 months ago there was an officer of SDPD asking when he could buy ammo and she said "For now its anytime, but soon after they do the background checks you might not be able to get it late nights." So Iwould guess that all the SD stores that sell ammo are doing a long drawnout paperwork process.

On a side not Iasked if they were going to sell gun and the manager said that they might but they are going to start with ammo and see how this goes. Wether or not this is true im not sure but Iremain hopeful.

The four walmarts near me haven't had much ammo lately. Might be that they aren't reordering until the training is complete.

Interesting that the employees are supposedly undergoing significantly more scrutiny than the person who buys the ammo goes through.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. It sounds like the issue might be countys and not the state or the feds if it is not uniform up and down the state. Maybe the affected county gun owners should be hammering their supervisors with complaints.

Wal mart in Huntington had plenty, more then likely because it took 25 minutes to find someone with the key for the case.
