I got all excited about the title... then read the post and my enthusiasm waned.

I'm looking for PLACES TO SHOOT. Not RANGES. Ranges don't let you double-tap, rapid fire, draw from holster, run-n-gun. I'm looking for a PLACE, out in the boon docks somewhere, that I can shoot in a practical sense without having to save up my bucks for a high level training class of some kind.

But I do give a big thumbs up the the OP for compiling this. No doubt there are folks who will find it very useful. Good job.

Thanks OP! Wish I would have known there was a place to shoot along 299 from Redding to Eureka when I drove thru there. That has got to be my favorite road to drive.

      Will surf for money.

your yreka location is in the middle of the town...So, i don't think that's going to work out too well.

however, I do have a range to add that's free, outdoor, and public. However, I'm a tard and don't know how to make a google map that shows up with the point.... the coords are 41.268679, -122.203000

here's the bing map of it http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&sp=Poi...e___&encType=1

        glad to help,

FYI, you can PM me the places you know and I'll add it. Personally, I don't know any.

Everything above this post has been added.

The Yreka spot is just the address that I have... No website so I don't know much about it.

The Yreka range is actually just a few miles North off Hwy 163? just past Hawkinsville. You turn left if going N and kind of have to know which dirt road to take off the highway. If you stop at Parsons Gun Shop, or Dons Sporting Goods they can give you info, but it is supposed to be shooting only with members present if you are a non member. As with most club ranges, there are various specialty groups that have organized shoots, usually on week ends.

My Brother lives in Yreka and I have shot at the range. I think the longest distance is maybe 150 yards, but could be wrong.

Cow mountain free range, up in BLM land between clear lake & the 101, outdoor free for all, more like a trash pile.

edit; East of Ukiah up off Talmage rd, up in the hills.

Ok, just finished adding all of the places in SoCal that I have.

It is now a Statewide list of places to shoot. Doesn't include secret locations (BLM, private property, etc.).

If you would like me to add anything, make corrections/deletions, etc., please reply to this post or PM me.

It would also be nice to get this thread stickied.

                      Thanks!

Here's a map that Nevada Shooters is working on for Northern Nevada. It overlaps a bit with the California map -- someone might want to put a few of the sites from the NV map onto the CA one.

                            It is already.

I added some Tahoe-area ranges from the Reno map.

It's the "Moore-n-Moore sporting clays" location.
