      But....that wasn't the question.....

Same goes for the digital answer....I shoot in digital now....but since it wasn't a option I went for black and white.
Yeah, I just noticed that now .

Given the situation, if you jump in to try to save her, likely both of you will die - remember, you are a photo journalist so you are going to have all sorts of bags and gear hanging about your person. Might as well click away.

If there was a decent chance to save her without throwing my life away for nothing, I'd jump in.

          It's that simple.
The first rule of a rescue worker is: Don't put yourself in a situation that also makes you a victim because then you will need to be saved as well. That being said, if you were successful in pulling her from the raging water, we would all be victims that still needed to be saved from her!

To answer the question, I don't think that I'd waste my film on a subject that I don't want to look at.

I was all ready to dive in and save this person...then I got to the "Hillary" part.

Save 1 person, or save millions?...

                    Some of you

at understanding and properly responding to the test format.

It's asking for an either/or answer, not fill-in-the-blank

FWIW it's a heck of a lot easier to go COLOR-->B&W than B&W -->COLOR. Versatility wins.

Black and white... the objective nature simply exposes the subject matter, leaving interpretation up to the viewer. Black and white can show slight details that are lost in color... facial distortions, etc... Depth and value are also accented. BW is the only way to mark a memorable moment.

Then I'd maybe throw her something boyant.

I say Color. I'd probably do what she once suggested: you don't need to intervene, just be a good witness. Maybe I'd call 911 to see what the response time was.
                                Nah--- Probably not.
